+Daniel Madera , actually it what your heart desires. There are a lot of Airmen who have finished their college degrees while on active duty and reserves. If you put your mind to it and dedication you will succeed. (CL)

Is there any job in the air force where you would still have time to visit family and stuff
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-E6yr44jfWyc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACY/NrGuWMNN1mk/photo.jpg?sz=64
+brooke byrnes Yes, of course. IF you have saved up enough (money, and leave) to travel home... it really doesn't matter what the job is. You earn 2.5 days leave a month (at least when I was in, might have changed). A "good" supervisor will encourage you to use your leave time.

It did , thank you so much +Bryce Davenport

Yeah, when you have leave or when your tour is done (this is only possible If you aren't on the reserve) (I'm currently 15 and don't know much, but this is what I remember my dad telling me). +brooke byrnes I hope that this helped answer your question :)

I want to go bad but im having trouble with asvab math
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/--tkwIfIla0Y/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAD4/WIKMCsh_Jrg/photo.jpg?sz=64
So did i! Got a 40 on the practice and did 2 weeks of studying and got a 70 on the real test. Go download an asvab app on ur phone n just study from there. Type in asvab and it should be the one with the green helmet. Itll help you sooo much. Wish i would have studied more on all the subjects but my main focus was on the math part since that was where i sucked the most. But yea you'll be fine :) best of luck
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Find it funny a test tells you what job you get. You can be trained to do certain jobs even if your ASVAB scores aren't high enough
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-E6yr44jfWyc/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACY/NrGuWMNN1mk/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Gut Think of the ASVAB in terms as a process of elimination. YOU are testing for the highest score possible, period. The USAF will use the results as a means of seeing what you DON'T qualify for.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Gut That is true, but the test after 1000's and 1000's have taken it that if you don't score high enough. many won't make it. It costs too much to have someone not pass. They have to increase their chances of getting the most to pass.

Hi. I'm 19 and I'm planning to join the AF maybe next month. I've been studying ASVAB books and trying to answer some practice tests. I want to talk to someone from the AF about what should I ask my recruiter during the interview or meeting with him. Is it possible to message you and talk about stuff regarding AF? I really wanna join the AF. :(

Thank You so much, I took the ASVAB yesterday, yes my score qualified me for the Air Force but not a particular job that I wanted. I'm considering retaking the test. After this video you are right. I don't want to be stuck in a job that I will be miserable with just to get in. I'm going to retake it. I need a 72 or higher in the G section to get my ideal job! Thanks for the advice!

+KindaCoolKaia Hey so I just wanted to keep you updated. Maybe it's not meant to be, I retested I actually scored a G 70 just 2 points shy of the goal. I'm actually looking into the Personnel Job that you have instead. Although I had my heart set on the Public Affairs Specialist (which requires a G 72) I'll looking into other options.Once again thanks for the Advice to retest again. I scored 19 points higher than before.

Hi, I'm 21 and planning on joining the AF within a few months. I've did my research and bought books but the only thing that I'm still unsure about is whether or not my hair will be allowed. I have short/medium length (shoulder length but can go into a bun) dreadlocs that I wear for religious purposes. I'm not sure whether I'll be required to chop it off before enlisting or Basic training. I'm willing to keep it short and not let it grow too long to avoid a huge bun, and my hair can fit under a hat. Will my hair be acceptable? Have you seen anyone in the AF accepted with medium length locs? Thank you.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i0ssEf_Bjgk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAPo/nhTocJ149BM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+KindaCoolKaia Thank you!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-o2hFJ0zZs3s/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACs/2JUerP9-OxA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Abby Shine-B Hello, well if you come in with that many credits you can put onE-3/A1C after BMT graduation and you only have to sign 4 years. As for the hair I believe that is ok according to the reg. But let me verify and I will get back to you!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i0ssEf_Bjgk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAPo/nhTocJ149BM/photo.jpg?sz=64
Also I have college credits but haven't graduated because of financial reasons but I have about 28 college credits. Will that be acceptable enough?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hey there. Doing my research on the Air Force. Got my asvab study guide book from the library. Taking it slow but this is something I'm interested in. My future. I'm 20. I want to be a nurse in the future. Do you know anything about active duty and the reserves and how they are different from each other. Most importantly: jobs, benefits, and college tuition. Can I study full time active duty? Can I still receive the GI bill on reserve and when? Thank U in advance
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-o2hFJ0zZs3s/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACs/2JUerP9-OxA/photo.jpg?sz=64
You should definitely know what you want out of the AF before going to talk to a recruiter. Also verify everything he/she tells you after the fact don't just believe anything they say. Not all recruiters are liars but some are so be mindful of that. For the commissioning you can either do ROTC or OTS their may be other programs but I don't know much about them. If you google those I'm sure you will get a lot of info. Hope this helped! :)
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Thanks for taking the time to respond to me. What should i know before going to a recruiter? And how do you become an officer?
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-o2hFJ0zZs3s/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACs/2JUerP9-OxA/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hello, ad is a full time job basically the AF becomes your lifestyle. You move to a base and do your job there. The reserves and guard are parttime. You serve one wknd a month and two weeks in the summer. Here honestly the Air Force has changed my life. I am so greatful for it, some ppl hate it and I won't lie it can suck sometimes but everything has its pros and cons. I have gotten to travel the world, go to school for free, I have a steady secure job that's giving me great training and experience for the outside. I have a place to lay my head, and food to eat. I'm secure and I JUST turned 22 a week ago. I mean who can say they moved to Japan, had a full time steady job and was able to by their own vehicle and pay for insurance and a phone and internet with no at 18. I have been truly blessed and would recommend the AF to anyone. But it is a big choice so I wouldn't rush into anything unless y o u are completely sure. Also since you want to be a nurse I would def look into commissioning programs officers make way more than enlisted and a more privelaged. If you have anymore questions please dont hesitate to ask. -Kaia

My U.S. Air Force Story (Enlisted, Officer, Active Duty, Reserve, Civilian)

I apologize in advance if you this information wa sin the video I missed it. Are you still active duty, reserve, or retired? You're first nine years were active duty but a enlist/officer combination? Does your retirement pay only commence when you hit 20 years of active duty service or combined with your reserve time.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+joncko If I recall correctly, I couldn't go back to being enlisted since I had a break in service when I did ROTC.  My friend went back to being enlisted since he didn't have a break in service.  The Army was an option of staying an officer and active duty but I decided on working for the Air Force as a civilian instead and went straight into the AF Reserves.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+YOUR Military Money when you were part of the officer cuts back in 2006, could you have relegated yourself back to enlist just to stay active duty? Or was your only options to separate or go reserve officer?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+joncko My first 9 years I was active duty both enlisted and officer.  I was then a reservist for 8 years.  I am back on active duty right now so I only have 11 active duty years and 19 active duty/reserved.  I would like an active duty retirement but I will need to complete 20 years minimum of active duty time.  If that doesn't happen, then I'll get a reserve retirement when I turn 60 years old and that will be based on how many points I accrued while in the Air Force active and reserve time (translation- most likely less than an active duty retirement.)
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64

I have a couple of questions for you. I'm currently in AFROTC unit being prior Air National Guard. Do you have any tips or suggestions on how to treat this program. It's completely different from what I'm used to in the Guard and at times I feel like I'm in a military fraternity (I'm 25 and relating to younger Cadets is tough). How do you recommend being successful in the program? Also at what age did you start/finish afrotc? Thanks.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Ricardo Romero I was 31 when I finished ROTC.  My priority was to complete the program and I was able to put aside our age difference.  Focus on the big picture, when you go back on duty....it'll be worth it 100%.  Since you're a little older and more experienced, use that to your advantage.  It should be easy for you to see the big picture and stand out.  This may bring more responsibilities but if the younger and less experienced cadets can do it, you can too.  Congratulations and best of luck to you.

im 24 years old...im looking to go Air national guard while obtaining my bachelors....then transfer to Active duty as a Commision Officer....any suggestions on how i should reach the goal of Officer? this is somthing i really want to do. thanks

+Janay Johnson Begin by doing a great job in your career field and unit.  Then complete your degree.  It helps to speak with the education center to see what the current requirements are to commission.  Ask people in your unit about commission opportunities and make a game plan to get there.  Enjoy the journey and remember to have fun in the Air Force.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
I see if you goose active duty you can get deployed any were in the world well that is what I'm trying to see because it was a hard to know because I wanted to get deployed in Japan or in Korea
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Hernando Moran In most cases you'll be stationed to Japan or Korea and not deployed there.  You'll have to put it on your dream sheet and you get it.  It definitely seems possible.

Hi there I enjoyed your video. I am 30 years old and have my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and think about joining the Air Force as an Officer often, but can't seem to make up my mind for sure if that's what I want to do. It sucks being 30 and not knowing what you want to do with your life as a career. Any suggestions?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
I'm Hugo.  That's correct and access to the military bases, gyms, commissary (grocery store), Base Exchange, tickets and tours discount rates, etc.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t9VXv6-Clm8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEY/OlmrUC1IO3s/photo.jpg?sz=64
+YOUR Military Money It's ok no worries, I always appreciate your responses :) What's your name btw? So basically the only thing you continue to get once you retire is your pension and your health insurance right, nothing else?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Anthony U I missed the second part of the question, if you retire you will get a retirement check for the rest of your life. It's not free housing or a housing allowance, it's your retirement check based on your pay-grade.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t9VXv6-Clm8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEY/OlmrUC1IO3s/photo.jpg?sz=64
+YOUR Military Money Yeah it does sound like a good deal. Are you able to answer my second question?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
They will pay for every PCS- permanent change of station because they are making you move.  It's a good deal.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t9VXv6-Clm8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEY/OlmrUC1IO3s/photo.jpg?sz=64
+YOUR Military Money Ok thanks, does the Air force pay for every move you do to every base you are assigned to, or is it just the initial move you do when you first join the Air Force? Also if you put in 20+ years will you get free housing or housing allowances for the rest of your life?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Anthony U That's going to be a tough one.  My guess is no but I don't like guesses.  A recruiter would be better answering that one.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t9VXv6-Clm8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEY/OlmrUC1IO3s/photo.jpg?sz=64
+YOUR Military Money Thanks, a friend of mine also wants to join and he was charged with a DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving, but all that was reduced to just reckless driving. Can he still join as an officer?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t9VXv6-Clm8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEY/OlmrUC1IO3s/photo.jpg?sz=64
+YOUR Military Money Thanks, a friend of mine also wants to join and he was charged with a DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving, but all that was reduced to just reckless driving. Can he still join as an officer?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Anthony U Absolutely.  Many Air Force members wear glasses (both enlisted/officers).
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t9VXv6-Clm8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEY/OlmrUC1IO3s/photo.jpg?sz=64
+YOUR Military Money Ok thanks for the reply. Can I still become an officer (not a pilot) and wear glasses?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Anthony U Moves are usually 3 to 4 years on average.  Both active and reserves are great.  Active duty allows you to see many places if you're willing to move.  If you prefer stability in one location, reserves may be a better fit.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-t9VXv6-Clm8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAEY/OlmrUC1IO3s/photo.jpg?sz=64
+YOUR Military Money I would only join as an Officer since I already have my degree. The question is whether I would go active or reserved. How often do they typically have people move around from base to base?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-EUXKCEGxNks/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAHo/iRk9kTI5RVI/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Anthony U If you're thinking about the joining the AF, I recommend you contact a recruiter and see what they have to offer.  That will allow to see if you like what is offered or not.  Think about if you would only consider being and officer or enlisted.  That may seem like a difficult thing to consider, but I'll say consider where you are today and where you want to be.  My point is if you come in at 30 years of age (officer or enlisted), you could technically be retired by age 50.  That could help with any lost time you think you may have.  Also consider if you would want to join active duty or reserve/guard (part time).  Any questions, let me know.
