Saint-Saens Sym. No. 3: Final for brass ensemble, organ, piano and percussion; arranged and conducted by Douglas Wauchope, with the Blue RIdge Brass at ...
This performance took place at Brevard College, in Brevard, N.C. at the
Porter Center, the magnificent performance hall at the college. It was
part of the premiere concert by the newly-formed Blue Bridge Brass, a 21
member brass ensemble gathered together by Steve Lawlis. Steve prepared
the Saint-Saens and was kind enough to let me conduct it in the
performance. Steve conducted a very varied program including Prokofiev,
Sullivan, Lebow, Dukas, Gigout, Purcell, and Johnson. The guest organist
was Kyle Ritter, and the two pianists were Matt and Neal Wauchope, sons of
Don Wauchope, my twin, who played French Horn in the ensemble. Also
featured on the program was my arrangement of 5 preludes (Op.34) and dance
by Shostakovitch for bass trombone solo and brass ensemble, which will
hopefully make it onto Youtube.
