Happy new year everybody! =) And sorry for talking so much. I promise I cut the superfluous! The books I mention are the following: -Roller Girl, by Victoria ...
Ahhhhh, I have missed you, my beautiful friend! Thank you for talking about
The Graveyard Book! I just read Neverwhere, and it was just ok for me.. I
probably would have taken more of Gaiman off of my TBR, but I am definitely
going to read it now! You have given me more to add to my TBR! Love Letters
to the Dead feels like I should pick it up! I am trying to catch up on
videos, and this one is great!!
+Retired Book Nerd I missed you too, Jo =) But now you're back! And don't worry, I'm also catching up on everything! And plus this week with the flu I missed all the new things coming up! =( I haven't read Neverwhere, but The Graveyard Book is the one I liked the most by him. I can't stand Coraline, but The Graveyard Book feels for me like a big masterpiece, and I guess also to the customers that always come back thanking me for the recommendation hahaha This year I also plan on reading more by Neil Gaiman. I read Sandman this week from the library and it was very introductory (the first volume). And Love Letters to the Dead is a very special book. It is very distant from most of the YA books I've read so far. Thank you so much for visiting me =) I'm always very happy to see you!
I'm looking forward to reading Nightbird after I finish the Alice Hoffman
books that are already on my physical tbr pile. :)
I am also looking forward to someday reading The Secret Garden and Mary
Poppins!
You have sparked my interest in The Graveyard Book and Love Letters to the
Dead. They were on my GoodReads TBR but I am more excited about them now
after watching your video.
One of you favorite books this year was on my least favorites list in 2014.
;) It's always interesting to see the books that people love or hate!
+Wish Fulfillment I also have to finish my physical tbr pile of Alice Hoffman until I can read more of her books. There is never enough Alice Hoffman books! =) I am also very happy that I sparked your interest with this two books =) I hope they don't deceive you too much! hahahaI'm very curious about the book that we share in different lists! I've checked your disappointment video but I can't see the book that we share :SThank you so much for watching and sorry for taking so much time to come back to booktube and reply!
I still need to read Nightbird, and The Bookshop Book made my list too.
This might sound a touch bad to say, but it was kind of nice to hear
someone say that reading diversely wasn't their specific goal. I think it's
a fantastic goal and we definitely should broaden our horizons, but
sometimes it seems everyone is saying it and it's more expected as a means
to an end instead of the experience it should be. Anyways, great list my
dear....I'm sure your customers appreciate it too:-)
+ISmellBooks I completely agree! I have the feeling that in English speaking countries it has to do with the little amount of translations and how people should be more curious. Here we are used to reading books from different authors in every single sense. The thing that I'm not a big fan of is that bestsellers depend on fashions, so the biggest % of readers will be reading just the "hot" topics. A few years ago, in the metro you would see people mostly reading books about burkas. Stuff like "a burka for love", and so on. And with kids we have a big range of translations, so they read books from any country really. People here is not worried for not reading diversely because that is what you usually do! But I also think it is the best to say "I read what I want/can" and introduce unusual books for you whenever it is possible. I have the feeling that this 2015 some people forced themselves into reading huge amounts of "diverse" books and, in my opinion, what that does is make it not a natural thing for you. We should make curiosity and willing to open our boundaries a natural thing!Wow sorry for this long and late reply, but being away for some days makes me want to talk about books and reading a lot more! =) Thank you for watching this super looooong video and I hope you're having a great week =)
I read so many good books this year! The Martian, Station Eleven, and All
The Light We Cannot See are a few of them. Another favourite that I would
recommend to you is Paris Letters by Janice MacLeod, it is very wonderful!
+Little Prairie Library I'm so curious about All the Light We Cannot See!!! I have only read fantastic things on it! And I've been recommended Station Eleven a few times too. I'm just adding Paris Letters to my list. With this title I have a great feeling on it! =) Thank you so much for watching =)
