You never mentioned that BMW has changed the color of their black E39 M5 mats. That matched the carpet. Original color was Black with charcoal heal pad.....The new production mat color (that you have settled for) is now Anthracite (charcoal) with a black heal pad...This is an obvious new young manager that has his idea that this color change is a good thing. He should be fired.!! Enthusiasts want originality. Not change....Bastards..!!

The mats look great! I had this problem on my BMW shortly, because it had the original beige floormats which are pretty sensitive to dirt. And it's pretty hard to find mats with an M-logo on here in Germany (even if the cars are from here). I've now bought black mats with beige seems and a beige BMW-letttering on the side, maybe I let stitch the M-logo. What a shame BMW doesn't sell such great mats for the E39 in Germany!

I don't like the way they look for feel when driving, it's a more industrial 'harder' feel to the car. I only use them for winter protection, the spring rains don't hurt the carpet.

Why don't you just use rubber ones yearround? I mean it is also helpful when it comes to rain during the summer and spring.

Thank you so much for these fantastic videos about the marvel of engineering and beauty that is E39. An E39 M5 is my true dream car. The only thing that is restraining me from curing the craving I have for these marvels is that darn snow from skiing! I have the same style mats for my E92. They are great and fit perfectly...but I do lay a towel down over them to help absorb the water and keep it from spilling over the lip and onto the carpet.

all floor mats comes in 3 types, rubber, plastic and fabric, fabric just like your original carpet in the car, differents is that mats will not pass water through because it have rubber layer, negative thing about this mats that they are fabric mats witch they will be stained just like your original carpet, I put them back in the box and ship them back for exchange to plastic witch don't have fabric layer on the top. I recorded video of comparing them both, but my hard drive quit on me and I lost all my videos.... so I wasn't able to made compare video but maybe latter will do video of my plastic, the fit same way

FYI, clips on the front mats are required by law (at least in the US). It is required to prevent the mat sliding forward and interfering with the pedals.

I have heard that the hatch area in the GTI/Golf is different than the R due to the AWD system. That could be why the mud buddy didn't fit.

+eddieMK7 I believe it just sits higher by less than in inch, but I didn't think there was a different shape. I've even seen a GTI, and it looked pretty much identical. Though the differences could be very minor and I may have missed it.

when I had my mkvi gti I had r line rubber mats. I think they would be better since this is a golf r. my mats said R on them. in white and they where also rubber all weather mats.im sure they make r line mats for mk7

+Antonio Stenta Yeah I definitely want something there for the wintertime.. will get it sorted eventually though. Just a minor hiccup. I'm honestly surprised though because I'm 99% sure the trunk is the same as the golf or gti, so idk why it doesn't fit.

+zed4me it's unfortunate bc their mats seem like a nice edition for my car. I don't want to risk going through the whole exchanging mats hassle. I settled on the gti monster mats front and back, no trunk mat yet.

My wife bought me a set of Weather Tech's for my 2013 Ford F-150 Crew Cab and I have to say I am not impressed. I was looking forward to those Liners they show in their online Ads and commercials. Well what we received were the same Flat Mats which will Not hold in any spills or Mud and are the same shape and size as I already have from my Ford Dealer. I have to say their Ads are very misleading. I was expecting a Tray Type that would keep the Mud in the mat and not just run out on the sides. C'mon Weather Tech. Use your technology and market a better product for the Working Man who carry more than a Starbucks coffee. Not all of us are Yuppies..
