Whenever I talk to people who have "just gotten a puppy" or are
"considering getting a dog," I always give them the lowdown on pet stores
and puppy mills. It's horrific that each year, more than 8 million dogs
(and cats!) are euthanized in animal shelters in the USA because no one is
there to adopt them! Each day, 50,000 puppies and kittens and 10,000 human
babies are born in this country. This means that until we stop
mass-breeding pets, there will NEVER be enough homes for them all!
I totally understand your feelings. But usually the people selling these
puppies at the stores are teen-aged girls who just don't know any better.
They do not know exactly where these adorable puppies come from and the
horrid conditions the parent dogs are kept in. That is why we will continue
to try and educate the public in any way that we can (legally of course!).
Thanx, but we already knew about the oak lawn store. I doubt it will do any
better than the store that was here in our town. 3 reasons: 1. The economy
