Where were their letters to Pelosi, Snow, Kennedy and others in government
on other essential points of Teaching. Ridiculous. If there is to be a
scathing letter to him, let's be consistent and have the Catholic academic
community stand together and criticize them publicly in the Washington
Post. Because of this hypocrisy, what conclusion are we to draw but that
they are using the Faith as a soap box to put forth their political
ideologies. If it were otherwise consistency would be apparent.
@nilbud we always act towards what we perceive to the good. Thats how we
interact in this world. If we cannot differentiate and say what is right or
wrong, then the basis of that interaction, which includes societal
relationships, breaks down. It is not I who have difficulty understanding
the world, but those who purport such ideas as you posted above. Thank
goodness most people still have common sense and have not given themselves
over to the insanity of relative ethics.
@nilbud the application of general moral principles to concrete situations
is a difficult task indeed, however truth is not relative. There is always
a right and wrong action when concerning morality or ethics. This is the
proper understanding of the world. The problem with your statement is that
if all were to follow that no one could be held accountable for improper
actions or rewarded for excellence. Basic decisions could not be made.
