First, I was an aspiring Film major, then, unfortunately, I discovered the
salary & employment rate.... Then, I was an aspiring French major! Same
thing happened.... After that, I looked into Journalism... You know what
crushed that dream. Current vision: Marketing...
This is great. I've struggled over the last year whether or not I should
actually go to school to study film or just start making my way up. I've
now decided that I do want to go, but I have a question for you: are you
going to a FILM SCHOOL or are you studying film at a university? I've
always wondered what the differences would be and if one was more
beneficial than the other.
First of all, congrats on decided to go to film school! I think you'll enjoy your experience and grow so much as a content creator! I am studying Cinema and Media Arts (fancy term for film) at a university. So I am taking gen ed classes while taking my film courses. My cousin, went to a FILM SCHOOL, however, and had a great experience as well. she graduated earlier, and was a PA for a while. You might want to visit some schools and see what the difference are. I'd imagine that at a film school, you'd spend a lot more time doing hands-on projects and stuff. Studying film at a university, however, does give you a broader learning experience as a whole, as well as exposure to students in other majors.
