I don't really see the difference anymore. I came to this video from their 1993 BRITS performance of this song and it was absolutely atrocious (also not characteristic of them, of course, to be noted). Bernard made the songs and he is to be admired but i honestly think Richard is perfectly on par. Night Thoughts has some really great guitar parts in it and i really haven't heard anything of note from Bernard since the Tears.
No, there is actually a ton of bass. Listen to The Drowners and Where The Pigs Don't Fly. There's some really nice bass in those songs.

I remember seeing them live when they first took on Richard oakes and they were touring dog man star. That live concert was just incredible!!! Coming up was good but dog man star tour was carnaget on my senses!! Took days to come down after seeibg that.
+audition audition It was definitely a singles album, I did enjoy it at the time but the desire to listen to the album tracks has waned significantly for me over the years. The B-Sides from that era though are absolutely fantastic, "God's Gift" and "Jubilee" are some of the best tracks Suede have ever done.
+cockshield It wasnt that bad, I mean okay it wasnt dog man star but it had 'a few' gems - Savoir Faire, Crack in the Union Jack, Hi-Fi'. I still play it every now and then. Shame they never played more of that album live, as I think it would have sounded better smashing them out live.

This band is one of the few who actually did the reunion thing right. The
new album is everything the past two albums should have been.
Majestic song.
