Man at 8:20 is saying absolute rubbish. Those sitcoms were watched not only
in India, but over in Indonesia and other eastern countries as these epics
are popular there too despite some of them being 'muslim' countries. People
watched along with their grandparents in absolute devotion. Kids lapped up
the stories. You are painting such a great sitcom as having inculcated
seeds of communalism?!
You are wrong. Communalism was used by right wing politicians through other
means. Shah Bano case was communalism by Rajiv Gandhi, Rath Yatra
communalism by Advani.
showing ramayana is communal but alif laila was secular??? i watched both
with same enthusiasm and never felt any thing communal..its like people
saying film premam is ruining the youth ...any way awesome documentary

Salaams, I get very sad when reading some of the hateful, obnoxious and
racist remarks made between the youth of neighbouring countries. My
suggestion is: the Youth is the future of any country. If this is the type
of thinking that you are harbouring in your hearts and minds, then there
will never be an end to the India-Pakistan disputes. For a small moment,
please bear with me: the policy of Britain and all imperial powers is to
Divide and Rule. They do this because then the different factions will
fight for tens or hundreds of years and never progress. Learn from Japan.
What did they do after the abominable Nuclear Bombs of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki, the worst crimes against Humanity? Did they go for revenge? No.
They decided that it would be better to sign a Peace treaty; then for the
next 50 years, instead of building bombs of mass destruction, they invested
very heavily in EDUCATION and produced world class people in all major
fields: top doctors, scientists, engineers and economists. They had an
Economic Boom that was (and still is) among the BEST in the world. So the
Indian Subcontinent has 2 choices: first, keep on bickering and hurling
insults against each other and that will just make things worse because it
will be the same brainwashing that you will teach your children. If you
continue on this path of Hindu Versus Muslim then Britain has succeeded in
leaving a terrible legacy of Divide and Rule. Don’t give any Nation control
over your Beautiful Country again! Option 2, the Youth must form a Youth
Parliament and enter politics with the idea of Regional peace. I have
mentioned this on several other forums, but I would like to see the day
that India + Pakistan + Kashmir become Joined again (before being cut into
pieces by the British. You are all family. You all have similar blood and
culture and traditions which are some of the best in the world. In many
Western countries, the word “INDIA” conjures images of exotic places,
mysticism, deep spirituality, romance, beauty, a powerful culture and
exquisite cuisine. At one stage in India’s history, no country had so much
wealth and thousands of Palaces, such as in Rajasthan (where today, only
the Tigers rule the magnificent forests (India’s treasures and wealth was
obviously looted by the foreigners). Hence, the Citizens of India, Pakistan
and Kashmir have a choice:
First, do nothing; continue insulting each other and killing each other and
blaming each other. This will get you nowhere and the world will only laugh
at the great potential that you are throwing away
Second, decide that the time for hatred, racism, religious intolerance and
prejudices is now over. The killing, rape, torture and suffering has got to
stop now. Today. If a person is a Hindu, he/she should be respected for his
choice of Belief. Similarly, a Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, etc should be
respected for the choices that they have made in life regarding what
Religion they want to Follow. If anyone is curious about Islam, Hinduism,
Tamil or any other Religion, there are numerous places (including books,
internet, visits to Mosques and Temples) etc. No one should be forced or
coerced to follow a certain Religion. This is a basic human rights issue.
What I believe in, is my business. What you believe in, is your Business.
But we can have mutual, friendly, brotherly dialogue. In the words of
Stephen Covey: Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
The choices that you make today will determine what kind of a future your
grand-children will have. Will they grow up in a long civil war that
cripples a country and her citizens, or will they grow up in a New Country,
where every citizen is respected and treated with compassion and kindness
irrespective of race, religion, ideology or wealth.
Peace starts with each and every person. Start referring to your
neighbouring country with love and peace. There will always be a hidden
“third force” that will try and stop the union of IPK. This is a real
possibility, Believe it. Believe it deep into your soul until it hurts.
Yes, there have been casualties on both sides (like we had in South
Africa). Today, we are living in Peace. We are called the Rainbow Nation
because you will find black brown, white, Portuguese, Italian and Islam,
Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity all living in harmony with each other. We
want our country to succeed and we do not allow petty things of the past to
affect us or to stop us. We have far greater problems to attend to. If IPK
unite as a single state or form a Tri-Partite Alliance of 3 Nations and
Strong allies, then I do not see any reason why in the next 20 years, this
Alliance can be the Economic Giant of the Indian Subcontinent. You can then
even include Bangladesh and other neighbouring countries. Remove the
prejudice and hatred from your heart and everything is possible. Militants
and extremists only make up 1-2% of any country: 98% of the people are GOOD
people who just want to earn for their family, pay their mortgages, send
their kids to school and live in peace. This is what everyone in the world
wants, and it is possible to achieve that. One possible outcome can be as
follows: I see “India” as the “Mother” who has 2 Beautiful Children:
Kashmir is the Beautiful Princess and Pakistan is the Handsome Prince. It
is up to India to set the ball rolling to achieve lasting peace. Either the
3 Nations retain their independence but form an Alliance (and only ONE
Passport is needed for all 3) or the 2nd option is to have it as follows:
India changes its Name to Mother India and now includes Pakistan and
Kashmir into its Geographic Territory. Pakistan and Kashmir become
Provinces or independent States of India. The President of Pakistan becomes
the Senator (or Vice President of Mother India) and the President of
Kashmir becomes the Senator (or 2nd Vice President of Mother India) of
Kashmir. The Main Parliament resides in Mother India (Having a President
and 2 Vice Presidents). Mother India can then sign up Alliances with China
and Africa thus having a Customer base of 3,5 Billion People. This can form
a huge powerful Economy where poverty can be something of the past. Mother
India will need at least 1 Million Schools, 10,000 New Colleges, Many
Hospitals etc. Salaries of Teachers, Police, Emergency workers, Nurses and
Doctors must be tripled and the emphasis must be on generating an
academic/intellectual generation of people and Entrepreneurs who can give
results to their dreams and visions. Everything is possible my dear
brothers and sisters. Peace starts with YOU. It is time to bury the
hatchets of the past and to focus on Nation-Building. The hatred has got to
stop. The killing has got to stop today. The ignorance has got to stop
today. The imaginary walls built up between people have to be replaced with
bridges that join people instead of separating people. If a person is a
Hindu, respect his decision. If a person is a Muslim or Christian or
Buddhist or Bengali, respect the choices that they have made in their
lives. To follow a certain Religion is Faith that comes deep from the
heart. If someone wants to follow another Religion, that is again their
Freedom of Choice – respect them; do not mock, insult and bully human
beings. There are many similarities between the morals and ethics of the
“Indian/Pakistan” people compared to those in the Western World. The
Strength of an Indian (and I consider myself an Indian) is that indomitable
spirit that never gives up in the face of hardships and obstacles. Please
encourage the Governments of all these 3 [three] Nations to have an
exploratory collaborative meeting to decide on a Unified Mother India, a
Beautiful Queen who has a the most Beautiful Princess (Kashmir) and
Handsome Prince (Pakistan) in all the World. If you sincerely believe in a
dream for Unity and an end to Violence, then this Dream should be
translated into reality. Look at the positive benefits for every man, woman
and child by the formation of this alliance, instead of the current
on-going conflict and hatred and senseless killing between people whose
great, great, great grand-parents were brothers and sisters.
I have a Vision that one day, sooner rather than later, the Dream of a
United Mother India with her precious Children, will become a reality where
peace and prosperity will prevail, and the Tourism Industry (among other
technical and industrial enterprises) will attract people from all over the
World. One of your great advantages that you have is the harmonious
symphony between advanced Medical Care combined with traditional (Ayurveda;
Complementary) care. Finally, Mother India provides a visitor the best
value-for-money for a Holiday of a Lifetime. The initial main focus must
be: Educate the Nation; and second, eliminate poverty by building many
“Projects Housing Developments” which provide free shelter, food and health
care for the poorest of the poor. A Country is judged by how it treats its
most frail elements of Society. All Government officials in all 3 Nations
(after the initial 2-3 preliminary meetings) should then saturate the Media
with the idea of a United Tri-partite Nation. There will be criticisms
(nothing in life comes easily). But every criticism should be counteracted
by 10 positive benefits for every person. The New Motto or Mantra should
be: Education for all and Respect for all human beings and all creation (on
land, air and sea). I have a gut feeling that this will be easy for the
Indians, since a sense of high morality, compassion and ethical values is
already ingrained in the thousands of years of History. What a glorious
History and what a wonderful Era gave birth to the Geography of IPK. May
the citizens of today have the courage to leave behind a legacy for the
future generations of people. With my sincerest prayers and kind wishes, Dr
Ahmed Adam [South Africa]
