The situation isnt as simple as you're making it seem. Syria isnt just a country you can smack on the wrist and expect the locals to stand by watching. The FSA rebels on the outskirts of Damascus are intermingled with muslim extremists who want to convert the country from a secular state into a barbarian religious hell hole. Al Assad is an evil shit, but he is currently a necessary evil who is preventing terrorists from taking his country backwards 400 years. He must be removed, but not w/bombs.

Why would he resign? He recalled parliament on a matter of war and put it to the vote and parliament said no! He has abided by that vote and is seeking a diplomatic solution. That's called democracy. Whether the vote was to go to war or not is a completely different matter than the fact he stood by the result. If anything especially to those of us who thought of him as one of the 'old boy crowd' his actions have pushed him up in peoples estimations. I'm at a loss as to what you think is wrong

Wasn't Assad here in 1979? and unknowing students had walked by? Yes. Wasn't there some kind of action that took place at HUD in 1990 or 11yrs later in Buffalo NY ...yet FBI did not declare Assad from Syria to be present, did not specify potential Libyans were on staff & they could be responsible, did not state that ANY FOREIGNERS were on staff at the time. I am in two minds on this. I understand the reluctance on the UK's part, but seeing kids killed in this way is appalling. However, Parliament decided we won't act which is the end of the matter for us. We should now move on. Our military forces are not what they were and therefore our contribution would have been negligible anyway. Cameron sees Britain's future as an aid giver rather than military power. What that means for the Falklands and Gibraltar only time will tell.

The US & Russia have agreed to disarm the Syrian regime which is good news. The Syrians have 7 days to hand over a complete inventory of its chemical stock pile and inspectors will have to be on the ground by November. If the Syrian regime doesn't comply the Russian have agreed with the US to refer them to the UN Security Council. The Russians have moved a long way and there is a tacit if not explicit acceptance that the regime was responsible for the attack.

No the Americans are doing what we are doing now. Not getting involved. During the 30s they didn't want to get involved in foreign wars which they saw as a European problem. They were dragged into the first world war and we dragged them into the second. They protected Europe during the cold war period from the Warsaw Pact and after the war they gave billions in the Marshall Plan to get Europe back on its feet.

The same result could have been worked out through diplomacy. Bombing should never be a first resort but the US seems to love attacking other nations. Any time an opportunity to do it arises the US just jumps right in without even thinking. It is frightening that a country that powerful can be so irrational and warmongering. If the government wants war, they should suit up their children and put them on the front line. They should also pay for it out of their own pocket. Russia is involved with a solution that Syria has accepted but France is a wild card but don't quote me, I was in the car dealing with idiot drivers. Do we really 'go in to win'? Like we did in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq (twice). If Assad is to be deposed, who do you propose he be replaced with? Our choice in Afghanistan and Iraq haven't worked out well and Egypt was a disaster so tread carefully when suggesting regime change. What happened in Syria stays in Syria.
