In hockey, a deke is used to elude an opponent through the element of surprise. Practice dekes and fakes in hockey with tips from an ice hockey coach in this ...
How hard as in how tough physically on your body, or in skills like
shooting, skating, and dekes? Either way I'd give both aspectes a 10, but
then again the same could be said for every sport. ex. You can take a slap
shot, but are you doing it correctly? Just remember to always give it your
all on every shift. Even if you're completely exhausted push yourself
beyond your limit, this will help you become better, and increase endurance
(not to mention impress the coach hehe)
It looks like they just picked a random hockey player and said, "show us
some dekes." he didn't look very prepared at all. besides that though, he
was obviously going slow purposefully and the goalie bit on the fakes on
purpose. also, these are beginner videos, so you NHL players dont have to
comment on how basic they are.
Wow, do all you people realize that hes not trying, its called an example.
And instead of sitting at home flaming this guy, he providing tips for
people who don't know very much of this stuff. And I doubt the people who
comment negitive on this dont even know how to skate let alone deke.
Fucker. Im 12 years old and I even know thats not the Datsyuk deke. Datsyuk
deke is fake shot to the Left/right (depending on your Hand) Then push puck
backwards, forwards, backwards as you go to the right/left (again depending
on your hand) then shooting it in the wideopen net.
in a real game, deking around defenceman behind the net is extremely hard.
if u can do it then props to u, but i doubt that many people could do the
behind the net stuff from this video WHILE deking out the defencemen
Who the fuck goes behind the net just to try a wrap-around? This guy
probably gets fucked up all the time. He's old enough to be at the junior
level but I dont see him lasting longer than 5 seconds in a juniors game.
your totally right am on your side ( people cant say negative comments when
someone is trying to teach the ones that are maybe not so good at this and
trying to start and have fun with this sport...)
Duh, he is not dekeing at full speed, so obviously if he is going half
speed to demo the different dekes, and the goalie is moving around at
normal speed, the goalie would block all his shots. Duh.
dude i was talking bout the wrap around. the wrap around had nothin to do
with deking and the defence would most definitely not let u get a shot off
unless its like squirt house league or something
The Datsyuk deke requires that you fake the forehand, pull it back to your
forehand with the backhand side of the blade and shoot forehand. This guy
just fakes backhand and shoots forehand.
no not shit and yes datsuyk uses that deke. its one of his favorites. check
some video before talking shit man. and at full speed yes those dekes will
give you a goal.
and i repeat -they're accually a lot of fun...... NO WAY DUDE it's FUN to
tacle a defense man on the other team that has the puck tackle him slap
shot..... SCOOOORE

I wasn't talking about taking a shot I was saying stick handling uses all
the top hand. Think about why people want shorter cuffs on their top hand
and a longer cuff on your bottom hand, the cuff just gets in the way. You
need mobility with your top hand. Obviously taking a slap shot takes the
bottom hand because you have to put weight on it. I mean whatever works for
people is fine. That is what the guy at my work told me and I work in the
largest hockey store in New England.
dude...really? i mean it depends on preference but by using ur top hand ur
carrying the weight of the whole stick rather than half the stick er less.
u also get less control. think about a slap shot...if u used ur top hand u
would hit the ice and ur stick would bounce right back up...much more
precision, control, & power w/ bottom hand
@sainthubbins1982 Thats Funny and Very True, When I started playing I
played with some great guys, They Slaughtered me in the Neutral Zone, Got
knocked out 5 times in 3 months. I could always play Very Well but when you
play against Real hockey players you better keep your head up
actually stick handling is all of your top hand. you can leave your bottom
hand loose. bottom hand just keeps the stick in place. the top hand is
everything
Hockey Stick Handling : Ice Hockey Sticks: Poke Check
A common way to poke check with an ice hockey stick is putting one hand on top of the stick and poking at the puck. Learn how to poke check with a ice hockey ...
my poke chacks are shit poke chacks should only be used if you want a
player to go were you want em to go but I perfer to hit the guy over poke
chcking cuz then they will just get around u but now its pussyfooting and
taking hiting out of the game if you don't want you kid to get hurt then
don't enroll them in hockey simple
I wouls say that it is Important to Step up into the player, Chances are
with higher level players they are going to Own you if you dont step up and
take their body. I coach High School Hockey, some players are very good and
the'd just skate around the D if we tried that on them
so you would like inexperienced kids to get injured? Ya sure if it was AAA
hockey or Even Single A Hockey but not houseleague though. As you advance
your way up Hitting should be allowed but not if its houseleague :p

His technique is TERRIBLE! Brett Hull must be spinning in his grave! But
seriously, 1) he's not extending his hands/arms outside of his body enough,
2) too slow motion/ follow through, trying to shoot hard instead of a
quick, deceptive release, 3) missing the net from so close in indicates
pisspoor technique. If I had a working cam, I'd make a video on it grrr
Awesome question. Hitting the corners is a goal but better yet aim for
where the goalie isn't. look at where you want the puck to go. look for the
net not for the goalie. Think of it as throwing a ball you dont look at
your hand you look at your target. practice at home in the drive way or the
garage or where evr you can. You'll get it
you guys are idiots he is showing you a snap shot at full speed as he said
from the begining hes going to be showing snap shots taking from quick
passes so he is showing a snap shot at full speed your suppose to make it
like hes waiting for a pass and shooting a quick snap shot!
how do u do that? i thought he was doing it correctly.. some1 said he's
pulling the stick too far back, on my wrist shot i like to pull it back
from about where he is so how can i do a snap shot then? u snap it on the
release?
That guy got a great power in his shot, but as I heard from my coach: Power
means nothing if YOU DON'T HIT THE NET, if you know what I mean (LEARN TO
AIM MAN).
he made this video for beginners that want to know how to do it give him a
rest ..
Hockey Stick Handling : Ice Hockey Sticks: 1 Hand vs. 2 Hands
A player uses one hand on an ice hockey stick when back checking. Find out when it's best to use one hand or two hands on an ice hockey stick from an ...
so.. when puck handling.. use two hands.. but without a puck and skating
use one hand.. so dont use one hand while skating with the puck, knowing
well you ill be skating much faster and if you have arm strings and have
gotten puck handeling down, you can maneuver around defenders and easily
beat them with your built up speed. But as you said.. puck = two hands.. no
puck = one hand... I hope all my hockey opponents watch this video ...
Hockey Stick Handling : Gripping Ice Hockey Sticks
A right handed ice hockey player grips a stick with the left hand on top. Get tips on how to hold a ice hockey stick from an experienced hockey coach in this free ...
If you are right-handed and have your dominant hand on top, you are most
likely a left-handed hockey player. If you are left-handed and have your
dominant hand on top, you are a right-handed hockey player. However, if you
are right handed and have your dominant hand in the middle, you are a right
handed player and visa versa for left-handed people. All personal choice
and what makes you comfortable holding a stick. They say dominant hand on
top is better for stability when it comes to hooking etc.
I'm left-handed and I use a right handed stick - it feels weird and
unstable to use my left hand on the middle of the stick. Rule of thumb is
dominant hand on top, however, overall it's down to personal choice.
