Incredibly nice elevator, and it's going to be sad when this building is
torn down. Also, even though winding drum elevators have cables, do they
have counterweights and operate under the principles as conventional
traction elevators?

+CaptainElevator42189 I'm guessing it had to have some sort of counterweight system, as it was intended to be used as a freight elevator. It's too late to check that now, the building's being gutted as of now.
