A short clip from my Father's 8mm film collection. This would have been filmed in 1964. After my dad died over 20 years ago my brother stored all my dad's 8mm ...
+Jag Betty my first car - not counting my Reliant Robin 3 wheeler - was a Vauxhall Victor, bench seats, 3 gears and column change. My dad's first car was a Ford Popular Prefect in black as I seem to remember most cars were in those days. Probably late 50s or early 60s
+dgrcgrl my dad had a year long contract in the USA so he took the family with him. I think we might have stayed but I don't think he was keen on us boys growing up and becoming eligible for the draft to fight in Vietnam. Not sure if we would have qualified, but safer out of the way.
Thought it sounded American and then looked American and then saw Illinois !
Was expecting something like an Anglia to look at (which, incidentally is
what my Dad crashed backwards through a hedge, with baby me in the back in
1969).
That's a very good method with the recording, how you are doing it. It
looks great !
+slider2732 I was extremely lucky to catch it and get it back straight without hitting anything, it was fishtailing for quite a while and that steering wheel was big enough for a boat. Obviously I never told my dad about it.
+GrandadIsAnOldMan Ah, did that with a 1.6 Laser Capri by accident. Rain can be so awkward when young and got a lead right foot. Burst the tyre and thankfully a friend had a spare wheel to get us home. Only problem, it was for a Fiesta lol...looked odd trundling along with back wheels of different sizes. That Zephyr would be difficult to drift, but it sounds like you did it !
+slider2732 one of my work mates had a 3 litre Capri that had a habit of going sideways when he accelerated out of corners too hard. Thinking about it, I remember I put my dad's Zephyr sideways on a cobbled street, don't see many cobbled streets nowadays.
+GrandadIsAnOldManThanks for the info :)Spent a good hour or so yesterday looking at old Fords after seeing your vid. The 'Y' and such, looking at the history of the older stuff.First car for me was a 16 year old 'N' reg MKII Capri in white for 175 quid. Had leather seats and a GT badge was found in the boot. Later found out about the limited edition JPS Capri's + would have been worth restoring, only a few were white...found out after it was scrapped !
+slider2732 we spent a year living in West Lafayette, Indiana, so looks like we were crossing the state line. The playback on YouTube actually looks better than my original recording so that is unusual, their autofix actually seems to work for this. I loved that car, probably twice the size of the Ford Popular we have back in the UK. When we went back to the UK dad bought a Ford Zephyr as that was about as big as you could get and it had fins on the back like the american cars.
1959 Ford Galaxie Fairlane 500 Convertible - Sunliner - 390
Just got my 1959 Ford Galaxie Fairlane 500 Convertible (Sunliner) to crank up for the first time in about 30 years.
1960's Ford, Galaxie, Fairlane AM Pushbutton Radio - Works Great!
I find them at swap meets, garage sales, etc. I really like old stuff! Some I sell, some I keep - storage gets to be a problem so every once in a while I have a fire sale.
PS Profis - Ford Fairlane Galaxie
Ford Fairlane Galaxie 500 V8 H war wohl mehr Platzhalter als Transportmittel in seiner über 45-jährigen Karriere. Sein Besitzer verlangt für sein ...
@390merc65 Do not be sad - here in Europe, Czech republic, we also love
your nice cars, because a lot of people in USA does not care about
them.....you can find many nice cars on junkyards...roted to death.....
Also - a lot of our nice cars - for example TATRA 603 or TATRAPLANS go to
USA from here.....because nobody cares about them....I imported 2008 nice
1953 Cadillac Coupe de Ville...and it is in original(but not very good)
condition - drives great - only 69000 original miles...check my vide
Very nice looking 500, I can only imagine if Ford would have placed a hot
boss 429 ford in it back in the day to compete with the chevelle....sweet
car you got, thanx for posting
It's an automatic- original mechanical (engine, tranny, etc) Runs great,
only 55,000 original miles. Paint is decent, no underbody rust. Currently
for sale. Probably list it on eBay soon.
+dredaylarue Hahaha that's what I was thinking. Can you imagine if this commercial ran on TV today? Literally millions of anti-smoker liberals would simply drop dead of a brain aneurism. Humm something to think about huh?
