It may be but if u go to video manager and u see you can't monteziese its because of copyright. Under the video it says blablabla third party something and click on it and you see whats copyrighted

Specifically it looks like the conspiracy nuts about the Boston bombing pissed off some viewers and those viewers got it in their heads that it would be a good idea to demand that videos claiming that the Boston bombing was fake should not be allowed to have ads. (this is what I gather from my research of some people making video complaints to Youtube. +Representative Press ☞ I think you make a good point about it not being because of advertisers not wanting to support controversial points of views. It gets really complicated to tell what is actually going on. Maybe people complain to the advertisers directly about their content being on controversial subjects. Maybe advertisers complained about their ads being on controversial videos. Maybe Google just used it as an excuse so they wouldn't be criticized for allowing "extremists" to support themselves financially via their service. Maybe it's just a spooky conspiracy to censor the content creators.  Personally, I think it's Google not wanting to be the receiving end of a liberal-establishment smear campaign. If they get ads from sidebars or something anyway, then an extra bonus for them (like featured videos, ad videos in the sidebar). They can't go wrong playing it safe before a scandal erupts and possibly ruins their pristine reputation.I don't think this is too surprising to me, since recently (part of this trend of criminalizing certain speech) an alliance between the DOJ and SPLC was announced. People with certain opinions or state things as fact which the SPLC doesn't agree with get labeled as extremists or anti-government anarchists. I went into into detail about how it is a disadvantage to have this policy change imposed. Another thing is, not only not being as easy or as good for generating revenue (in fact it may be very poor at both to unworkable) The whole point is there was a model in place for years and it was clear that having the ads served up by the computer meant that those advertisers weren't endorsing the views of the content creator. I think it is a mistake o move away from that model or think it is will be just as easy and generate about the same revenue. But the point is why should journalists have to do that? Engaging in business with the people who post videos on Google's site to generate revenue IS a hiring process, and subsequently denying users their ad revenue for political reasons IS discrimination. Sure, private companies are allowed to discriminate by establishing posting guidelines/rules. But applying them arbitrarily and for political reasons is wrong.

+Pete S Not sure what you are trying to prove. Laws are designed to allow us to interact, balancing freedom to do what we want with constitutional safeguards for everyone. Google is a private company and this is along the lines of "no shirt, no shoes, no service" -- there's no constitutional right to going barefoot in a restaurant having that sign up. Journalists have a right to free speech; but a private company is not obligated to provide a platform or listen to them.

If you do opt in people who have paid subscription fees to youtube will not see the adverts on your channel, people who have not paid will still see your channel but will also see the adverts before your video, that of course is if your videos are monetized.

+Aquatasy According to YouTube they WILL be giving more than just ad-blocking, there will be "extra features" (I don't think these have been announced yet). I mean, unless the extras were crazy amazing, I agree I still wouldn't do it, because I really don't mind ads, but I think they realise that adblocking can't be the only benefit.
