+Justin Pratt Sorry to say but that's not how blackjack works. The dealer must make a hand of 17 or higher, therefore Austin's 5 would've won if the dealer busted over 21.
lol. Well, i'm an amature gambler. And I gotta say. Really, it all does depend on the Dealer's card also. But you be amazed on how much that could impact your bank account or even your score.
I always hit up to 11 and everything above depends on the dealers card. But reading that argument about potencially stealing the bust card for the bank made me reconsider.
yea I'm no pro either but I would think in that particular instance the correct play would be to stay with a five ... your best case scenario in hitting would be that you pull a low card and then hit again and get a face card which would get you pretty close to 21 but you also pulled the dealers "bust card" which now lessens the chance of him busting... not good your worst case scenario would be pulling a face card which would leave you tied with the dealer and in the same position as him only that you wouldn't have been had you not pulled his bust card ... he wouldve busted and you would've won with a 5. That's how I understand it should be played but I could be wrong of course.
Well, if you had like 20,000 dollars on the line. You could have a 50/50 chance of loosing it easily if you stand on a 5. But, this is just my saying from experience. And I am not a Professional Gambler. Nor do I rarely gamble. But if you want to risk your money for it, go ahead! :D
Correct me if I'm wrong but if the dealer is showing a bust card and I'm showing a total of 5 wouldn't it make more sense for me to stay as opposed to "hit" and potentially pulling the card that would've busted the dealer?
I am a dealer in Las Vegas. You wouldn't believe how many stupid people have done shit like this to their hands. Every single night I work. You would think people would know better. Or at least have some common sense. What makes it even better, these customers get upset when they lose on their "5".
