Hi Bill, very informative. Thank you. Upon tilting down the unit a 2" brass pin, with one side flat, fell out. I can't find anywhere on the unit's diagram where it may came from. Any ideas?
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-G481zHUl3LM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAATk/KLkeLCdPWaM/photo.jpg?sz=64
Ok. relieved. Both new clutch and coupling are replaced and installed. The darned thing still doesn't work. Just makes noise.I think it time for a new washer, unfortunately.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-D02ZmwpwVFI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAEd4/1wizdtWiZjc/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Daniel Pearlman That's just a shipping pin, not used for anything now that the washer is installed. They are supposed to fall into a little plastic cup on the bottom of the washer, if your under there, you'll should see it. You can toss that pin.

Bill, my Kenmore 90 series ( I love this machine…) wasn't spinning right, made screeching noise, found the C-ring in the bottom of the clutch, kept falling down after being replaced. Now trying to replace the drive & brake assembly, can't get the assembly to come out. Tried hitting on the tabs on the drive tube to make the assembly come loose. No can do. Is it possible the metal vase-like neck on the inner basket, the drive block, and the shaft of the d&b assembly are fused together? They just will not separate from each other. Ever run into this problem? Urrgh. Thanks, Myra

+Myra Ekrem Hey Myra, try using PB Blaster penetrating oil from Canadian Tire. worked to separate my inner drum from the shaft.

Just wondering if i should replace both the motor coupler and the clutch? not sure which one is bad. My whirlpool washer spins when there is no clothes in it but when there is a load in it it doesnt spin.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-D02ZmwpwVFI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAEd4/1wizdtWiZjc/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Hunter Beck Sounds like your clutch to me, for all the more the coupler will cost, replace it to since you'll have the machine apart.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Hi Bill, help please...I watched your video and the cuppler was good so I took it apart to check the clutch and that is not broke either. What do I do now? prior to taking apart my machine stopped working on spin cycle due to uneven load, afterwards I couldn't get it to spin or rinse.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-D02ZmwpwVFI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAEd4/1wizdtWiZjc/photo.jpg?sz=64
+B.n. N I would check for broken wires or a broken lid switch if it was that off balance and not working now.

+Natalino Rolli Its not always just the glue giving way, sometimes the spring inside pops out, or the electrical pieces short or burn out. But yes, if all else is intact and in good condition, pressing it back together and zip tying it can work.

i reset the motor on mine, and it works ok on an empty load. when there is laundry in there, it makes it to the end of the rinse cycle but will not spin out. i hear a bunch of clicking sounds but nothing.

+Maureen Hirt Good job! Glad you found the tech sheet and was able to use that to diagnose it, and thanks for sharing with us!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QXxQaDcggqI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAGU/Q5P5YwMm5JE/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Maureen Hirt OK, then it is not a coupling, your model doesn't have one. The machine is designed differently. Not sure what would be causing your symptoms, especially since it works sometimes, then acts up sometimes.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Maureen Hirt we just replaced the shift actuator after using the diagnostic tests and its fine!!!
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Maureen Hirt its all so random, this am it got stuck after filling and wont go past the wash cycle. yesterday and last week when it first happened, the clothes wouldnt spin out... not sure what to even look for.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+canyonman1963 ..well funny thing is that it ended up working fine a few times, not sure what i did.. however, last night it acted up again. i watched the video but if my model is different, would it be the same problem? ( i have a whirlpool h2 low, top loader wth no agitator)
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QXxQaDcggqI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAGU/Q5P5YwMm5JE/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Maureen Hirt Does it freeze up at end of rinse cycle and not do anything else, or does it continue on to end of the cycle, but without spinning or agitating? If it freezes up and will not go to end of cycle, test the lid switch. I doubt it is the problem though, since you are getting the noise, it probably has a bad coupling. That is the part that connects the motor shaft to the transmission shaft. So check it to see if it is bad. Here is a video on fixing the coupling https://youtu.be/sqUX00J1zts

I have a Maytag Bravo washer Mod#MVWB300WQ1. The wash cycle will start out fine and the somewhere through the cycle it stops and I get a flashing "Ld" error code and the lid unlocks. When I press the power button , the screen changes fro "Ld" to 25. I then press the start button, the lid locks but all I get is a gurgling sound for a while. I unplug it and attempt to reboot the computer. The time unplugged varies because in the past I had to do this procedure several times, and eventually,so far it will continue the wash ,rinse and spin cycle. I had a Sears repairman out the other day and unfortunately I couldn't repeat the problem and couldn't remember the error code and he checked it out but obviously he couldn't fix the problem.

+seaeyeaye LD stand for long drain. The if it takes too long to drain this code flashes. Normally, this indicates a clog in the drain hose or within the drain pump. If no clog is found the drain pump may need replacement. www.repairclinic.com?TLSID=1773

Good morning! After being quoted $500 to replace my control board on my Cabrio Washer, I have decided to replace it myself. Question: The backside of my Cabrio model WTW5460XW0 does not look like the above video, which is super easy. It has metal plates with some hex screws and flathead screws. Do you have instructions on how to remove this panel so I can replace the board? Thanks!
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-qgoZtNAs0XU/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAjA/nHIJj7JpqK0/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Bob Ostrow The closest model match we have is a WTW5400TQ0 and it is not a Cabrio it matches an older style direct drive model. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Puq8jWMY9Iw
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
This video says it's the control board right from the get go, but other videos say check the water control hose or housing, before replacing the whole control board. So is that the right thing to check before going a head and replacing and spending the money for control board?

Will the control board determine if the washer starts at all? Thanks.

+NO NAME Yes, a defective control board will prevent the washer from starting. There are other possible causes, though, for a washing machine failing to start. I fully agree with Louis Small's post below. I have had this F1 error code happen 2 times, (1st a year ago), then again tonight. I fixed it by simply blowing in the tube that you can see in the upper right hand corner of this video at the 54 second mark. Thanks Louis!!! I blew hard until I heard a bubbling. No new board needed, problem fixed in five minutes. Just make sure you unplug and let it sit and reset itself for a couple minutes before restarting. Also make sure the water is on in case you turned it off (as I did during the diagnostic process). Good luck.

Hello, From what you are describing the lid lock assembly would need to be replaced. This video explains how to replace the control board, it's the most common issue on this unit. The dreaded F1 error code. Top control panel and top would need to be accessed to replace the lock assembly.

does any one come to your house to fix these in columus ohio... my washer says ul and ol sometimes and now its leaking right out the bottom... and today it smelled like smoke and wont quit beeping... i paid alot of money for mine at rent a center. so i dont want to get a new washer

I dont get this. I called WP and was told that F1 is a water pressure issue. Either a line is kinked or there are hard water deposits clogging the pipes. I ran Lemi Shine and the F1 stopped. We have hard water issues all the time with other appliances.

most of these boards short because there not water protected. The way to avoids this is to leave lid open after washing to reduce moisture. This will also keep it from rusting as bad over time also.
