The Basis of the Tropical Zodiac: Sacred Geometry (Not Seasons)
In astrology the tropical zodiac signs are often described as "cosmic seasons". Aries is the burst of energy of the Spring season, Libra is the perfect balance ...
in Iran, the Persian calendar year starts on spring equinox, in Aries,
based on astrology. could it be that, back then, the ancient astrologers in
Mesopotamia judged the seasons based on their own location/climate on the
earth?
+Maha's Treasure box Thank you for posting this information. The Middle East, Iran, Egypt, Turkey and neighboring areas have an extraordinarily rich cultural history and everyone benefits by learning more about it. I wish you well in these projects! Blessings, David.
+David Cochrane Dear David,Thank You for acknowledging my comment. I'm posting a linkfor more detailed information on the Persian calendar (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iranian_calendars). The calendar is based on astrology/astronomy as opposed to mathematics, and the Persian celebrations are based on the eight stations of the sun (coming from a pagan-based religion, Zoroastrianism, and previously the cult of Mithras) and each month is named after a deity/animal spirit/element, and is celebrated as such. Despite persistent attempts to get rid of these celebrations including our calendar, the Islamic Republic has not mananaged to do so, and Iranian people stillcelebrate the Persian New Year on vernal equinox -- and interestingly enoughwinter solstice, which is the birth of Mithra (the Sun God), is a hugecelebration for Iranian people and it is called "Yalda" (very similarname to Yule!). In the future I plan to make specific videos on Persiancelebrations and discuss Persian poets such as Khayyam, andastrologer/mathematician/poet who made specific advancements to the Persiancalendar.Peace, and blessings to you
+Maha's Treasure box Oh, this is very interesting! I didn't realize (or probably just don't remember) that the Persian calendar begins on the Spring Equinox. Yes, I do suspect that much of astrology is strongly influenced by the particular locations like Mesopotamia where it was developed. Thanks for sharing. Also, if you or anyone else investigates the history of the Persian calendar, let the rest of us know what you find out.
When you say the signs, as well as the seasons are derived from sacred
geometry, this seems to be another way of saying: everything in astrology
is derived from aspects. But that is not as apparent to us as we might
like--yet--because thousands of years ago, and far more recently even, we
had to come up with low computation non-harmonic, simplified geometric
rules of thumb that got us in the ballpark of correct.
I think I agree with you when I say that the zodiac signs seem to be rough
aggregations of qualities associated with the various harmonic aspects to
the Aries point formed within that sign. The preceeding 12th harmonic, or
4th harmonic or 3rd tells us something about the phase of the aspect to the
aries point, the phase of the solar / seasonal cycle. And we use this to
lump together all the aspects that fall within a given 30 degree zone.
As we start to have the computing power to delve more deeply into the
harmonics and look for more meaning, I think we will begin to differentiate
more meaning. And we'll see that much of the Leonine creativity we think of
is really something derived from the particular biquintile aspect to the
aries point that occurs within that sign. Of course the separating waxing
trine is very important and gives a lot of insight into Leo, but there's so
much more going on there.
Does a Leo planet get some of the quintile quality no matter where in Leo
the planet may fall? I'm inclined to think so, however I think the source
of that symbolism is the biquintile and planets in orb to a 5th harmonic to
the Aries point will be most likely to show this most clearly.
By the same token, the houses are rough phase-related aggregations of the
meanings of the harmonic aspects to the Ascendant, another nodal point, the
origin of a frame of reference corresponding roughly to the horizon and
midheaven.
Are aspects to these different frames of reference identical? No. The Aries
point colors the symbol, the ascendant channels it toward an area of life
expression. And yet, the sequence of harmonics is the same. And so
something parallel runs through both. As it runs through the aspects
between each planetary pair.
+Kostas Stefanu Very exciting!!! I will read your article soon. I have not gotten very far yet with fractional harmonics but fractals, etc. indicate that they must be important and I can't wait to see what you have figured out. Keep up the great work. We are figuring out a puzzle and the more people that put pieces of this puzzle together, the better! :)
+David Cochrane David, with great interest I am watching your videos and your new findings - expanding continuously astrology to new horizons. I am so happy to have Sirius 2 and with the help of "fractional harmonics in decimals" I spend the most of my research time calculating what I name planetary wave charts. And I am totally convinced of their validity .This intriguing sequence of harmonic positions is really my "fixation" or obsession. But helped me, after 10 years research, to see Addey's harmonics as a particular case of the wave charts and thus to determine the wave nature of the planets, that is to consider every planet/factor in the chart as a self-repetitive fractal-like function or energy wave pattern.I am working hard to prove this theoretical hypothesis as a complementary principle to the traditional model. An article about THE WAVE STRUCTURE OF ASTROLOGY is in my facebook account as the final result of my findings at the moment and I will be greatful to read it when you have time. Thank you !
+Astramancer and Kostas: these are very interesting idea and all of us are poking at this from different points of view and that helps us sort out what is really going on. My views on this are a bit different: I do not see aspects or the patterns of positions in a sequence of harmonics (as Kostas describes) as related to the zodiac. In other videos I describe how we were successful in a hypothesis test of predicting gold prices based on 7th harmonic aspects, and in more qualitative studies see patterns of particular planets in the charts of musicians and other planets for comedians, etc. So my sense is that the astrological "fixation" on a 12-based system has stifled and limited our understanding of astrology. We need to get out of the 12-based system and stop reducing aspects to it. However, there also appears to be a 12-based cyclic pattern created by number sequences of Fibonnaci numbers and prime numbers that is the zodiac. As much as I prefer a Theory of Everything where all emanates from one concept, the zodiac and aspects appear separate to me and the aspects to be much more important in affecting behavior. However, astrology remains a mystery and as long as it is a mystery, it is important that we keep getting fresh insights and observations, which both of you are contributing. Also, I will continue to think about these ideas and perhaps at some point I can better appreciate how they can be used. The sequence of planet positions formed by the sequence of harmonics from a given planet position, for example, si very intriguing. Many thanks for sharing your ideas here!
+Kostas Stefanu I feel like I am seeing the zodiac in a similar way Constantine, even though we're using the harmonic metaphor in different ways. You seem to be calling the natal aspect of a body to the aries point: the 1st harmonic. Your second harmonic is that natal aspect x 2, 3rd harmonic is aspect (longitude really) x 3, and so on. Where I generally speak of harmonics as part of the 360 degrees: so the 2nd harmonic is 180 degrees, and the 3rd is 120 and so on.To me, what you're referring to is a paralell between the harmonic quality of different parts of the zodiac. So 10 Cancer is 100 degrees, or a 5/18th of the circle from the aries point. 20 Libra is 10/18ths or 5/9ths. Yes, I would think these would be harmonic sensitive points, though I would attribute it to hitting the same harmonic frequencies (or octaves) in different places in the zodiac. If I'm not mistaken, you're also saying that you could look at the longitude as a harmonic aspect, and then see other places where that same harmonic aspect would be made to both the aries point and the natal point, and again, I agree, these seem very likely to be sensitive points directly related to the natal aspect--harmonizing with it and reinforcing it.A planet at 10 cancer has, to my view, a zodiacal quality or sign quality that modifies it's basic sign quality (Cancer) with 18th harmonic symbolism. Every 18th harmonic sensitive point, in this case every 20 degrees of longitude, will be a part of this aspect pattern.
+Astramancer Kenski, readind you and David Cochrane as well it is a pleasure and a source of inspiration too.1) Koestler's Neptune is 10:00:25 Cancer, but say 10 Cancer to facilitate my theoretical point. His 2nd harmonic Neptune is 20 Libra, his 3rd harmonic Neptune is 0 Aquarius and his 4th harmonic Neptune is 10 Taurus, and so on every 100 degrees from the last harmonic position or node.Let us imagine these nodes(10 Cancer,20 Libra,0 Aquarius,10 Taurus and so on) as dividing every 100 degrees a string that vibrates creating standing waves in music - and only as an analogy in astrology.2) But there is a better way to see the wave nature of planets and the wave structure of the Zodiac. What Addey defines as fundamental harmonic we can define as fundamental wavelength taking the planet's absolute longitude as its wave length in a self-repetitive frctal-like wave function or energy wave pattern expressing in a wave form the essential enrgies of that particular planet - of Neptune in our example.3) I have my natal Uranus in Cancer 10:00:07, say 10 Cancer to facilitate the calculations and to stress my theoretical point. Now from the same 10 degrees Cancerian zodiacal gate or node my Uranus is transmiting its essential energies through the same chanel like Koestler's Neptune.Same gate, same harmonic nodes, same chanel or net, same wavelength, same longitude BUT differend planet.4) We can view the Zodiac as consisting of thousands of harmonic nodes each one active or not depending on the presense or not of a planet and each node as a gate to a pro-build gigant NET like the net of the electric or telephone company. Each node represents a gate to a string or tunel through or via which the planetary self-repetitive function or energy wave pattern travels crossing the ecliptic unfonding in a self-similarity process. An article about what I consider as THE WAVE STRUCTURE OF ASTROLOGY - a complementary principle to the traditional model- is in my facebook account : Constantine Stefanou.
This is great information, David. I've been studying sacred geometry for
nearly as long as I have astrology (40 years), and have come to the
conclusion that sacred geometry, the Fibonacci numbers and
hyper-dimensional physics have far more to do with what makes astrology
work than much of what we (astrologers) have been taught. Thanks for all
your hard work.
+KatStarwolf It is very exciting to find out that other people have discovered similar ideas independently! Thank you for sharing this.It is inspiring. Keep up the good work and studies that you have been doing for so long. I think this will be of immense help to humanity in the long run.

Planets where they are natally don't change. When a transiting planet hit's
a natal transit then, it kicks off that transit. As far as better or worse
it depends on the planet & the transit it kicks off. So.. When Saturn
conjuncts a natal planet like the sun or moon it can be a lonely time for
the person & if there is a square or opposition it maybe felt more
intensely. The planet's it kicks off tells another story. You may wish to
take my Transits class coming up for more inf
Good show I think I get the picture. So you're saying that daily planetary
movements can jump start a natal configuration of planets? Is there any
merit when these same daily planetary movements 'create' (for better or
worse) their own configuration to a lone natal body?
CONTINUED: If you don't know anything about Astrology then, before that
transits class you would need to take basics & aspects first. But, this was
a very good & advanced question you had. So.. I was not sure what stage of
learning Astrology you were at. =)
Your Chart ?? You would have to book an appointment as I don't do personal
chart readings on youtube. Just go to the website & book the option that
best suits you and I would love to do your chart =)
