hey funk, i'm coming to orlando from the UK this july but am only limited
to a days record shopping :( . Which store or 2 would you recommend
visiting for their soul/jazz/hip hop collections and reasonable prices?
thanks!
I found that all the Orlando stores were overpriced. However they also were much more fun to shop in than stores anywhere else. Deep Crates told me on the way that he hadn't been to any record stores in almost a year because the real bargains can only be found in thrift/antique stores, flea markets and garage sales. Surprised that the stores haven't learned the value of the $1 bin down here. You have more records than you can display, you might as well help people get their collection going by giving some away. Makes people want to come back and shop knowing they can get a deal. Also missing in the state of Florida is the idea of discounts for regulars or people buying lots of stuff. They charge full price for everything like you're shopping in a mall or something.
