I am considering getting Roku. My wireless carrier is Comcast and I have
been hearing from other Comcast customers who have purchased Roku but
having problems connecting to Comcast wireless. Anyone else having issues
with Roku trying to connect to Comcast wireless? Thank you.
+Robert Novak. Yes, but the problem seems to be with my router, not with Comcast. I will have to return my Roku since I don't want to buy a new router.
Its thanks to guys like you, who take the time and care to present
instructional videos like this, that utube is such a fertile ground for
techno-numpties like me to seek out and learn. Thank You.
+Melissa Gerber Can you pull the TV away from the wall and look at the slot. USB is rectangular. The HDMI port reminds me of the shape of a capital letter D.
I just ordered my Roku and will be getting it tomorrow. I'm a little
nervous about installation, so I Googled and found this video. Very clear
and detailed -- thank you for posting it! Now let's see how I do tomorrow.
Hi Latisha,
Thank you so much for allowing us to view your tutorial in your beautiful
home, by the way!!! I just purchased my Roku Stick and it is on its way
from Amazon and due here tomorrow. Your instructions were great and I look
forward to setting my Roku up tomorrow as I have been streaming from my
laptop for the past almost 2 weeks. And now I can clear away all the
cables and boxes from my past cable service and my recent sattelite
service. :) Much appreciation for you taking the time to do this
tutorial for the public, especially me who is so reticent when it comes to
electronics and making changes with it.
Blessings!
+Pro Tech Guy We are scheduled to cut the cord on May 31. That is when our subscription expires. Thanks for sharing that you are a cord cutter and are thoroughly enjoying your Roku three. Gives us something to look forward to.
How To Connect Your Roku Box To Your TV
This video will show you what's involved with connecting or setting up a Roku box to your TV. It's pretty easy to do, you can see that in the video. It's not too hard ...
You can also check out the WD Live Box on my video page that I did a review
of in the last couple months. This is a competitive option to Roku. I
haven't seen much for parental controls on the Roku or WD LIve box, however
I feel like that is going to be controlled more on the individual
"channels" you subscribe to. Netflix has a "Kids only" page that you might
be interested in where they put kid-friendly movies. This comes up when you
launch the app on WD-Live, not sure about the Roku, though.
If you go onto the Netflix website and login to your account, then go to
the "Settings" area using the menu on the upper-right part of the page, you
can change some options to make Netflix more kid friendly. Use the
"Parental Controls" to adjust the type of movies that pop upon screen. You
can also create different user profiles and make one profile kid-friendly.
I believe these settings translate over to the Roku, but you may have to
log into the computer Netflix account and change the
HI Kevin. I Have 2 questions about the ROKU Box. i see all programs like
netflix hulu etc but i wanna know does it have YOU Tube app on this box.

ps3 connected to my tv so i wanna know if i get this roku box do i need to
disconnect my ps3 when i wanna use my roku box or can i keep it connected.
if u can let me know ty
If you live in a major metro area, I would consider getting a strong
antenna and just keeping that hooked up to receive local channels. If you
don't have a DTV, you will need the converter box as you mentioned. You can
also check with your cable company to see if there is a cheap option to
just get local channels and the other basics.
roku does not require a monthly subscription "Roku does not charge a
monthly fee. Simply access your existing subscriptions like Netflix, Hulu
Plus or HBO GO. Enjoy all the free movies, shows, and music. Or browse the
latest blockbusters on demand." taken from their website
Your tutorial would be sooooo much better if you increase your volume! I
can barely hear what your saying and since I have no sound problems with
the other videos that means its your volume thats the problem. Other than
the diminished sound your tutorial is good.
Hey I have a few questions. How many channels are free? Also can u get this
at Wal-Mart?And do u get channels like metv,antennatv,thistv,and such?Also
do u get enough free channels to not have to bother with cable again as I
only watch about 8-10 channels on cable?
Oh, my mistake if I did say that! It's a one-time price. However, if you do
want to get paid "channels" on the Roku (such as Netflix, Hulu, etc) there
will be monthly fees, starting at about $8 per month for one of those
services.
Depends on the Roku you buy. The Roku LT (the cheapest) is a wireless only
connection as is the Roku HD and Roku 2. I believe the Roku 3 does have an
ethernet connection in addition to the WiFi.
Finally, if you have internet through the cable company try hooking your TV
up to cable and doing a channel scan. Sometimes you get some free local
channels if you have cable internet.
settings back and forth depending on who is watching Netflix. Netflix may
make this easier to manage on streaming devices like TVs and tablets later
if they haven't already.
did you mention youtube, is there a charge. Which one is the best, you
mentioned you have reviewed a few others. I want something that has
parental controls on movies.
every time I watched movies or favorites my cable company charges extra.
I've tried to watch my Roku it freezes ,then it stops working. What do I do
now?
