Man deliberately floods his own house - Rainbow of North Jersey
Disaster Team president deliberately floods his own house to prove a point and settle a bet. (WEST CALDWELL, NJ October 6, 2012) -- On October 7, 2012 at ...
We had the benefit of time on our side as we started the water remediation
within 2 hours of the "disaster" we created. That is the typical turnaround
in our industry and we did have a LOT more men working on this job than
usual so we could create this sales tool video. But based on the square
footage of the property affected, Xactimate pricing on a loss like this
would have been approximately $1,400 not including some of the items that
needed to go to our contents cleaning room. (Continued)
Far less than $2,000 nonetheless. However, had the water been Cat 3 black
water due a flood or perhaps we weren't on the scene until many days after
the loss occurred, the losses would have been severe. We would then have to
cut and remove the drywall, carpet, pad, trim and other building materials
and many of the contents of the home would likely not be salvageable. THUS,
the bill might be $12k or more. The trick is responding timely and
hopefully you are dealing with a clean water source.
It is a valuable question you bring to the table. In this scenario we tried
our best to replicate a naturally-occurring clean water loss that commonly
occurs for homeowners. Granted, no homeowner in their RIGHT mind would
deliberately unleash 1500+ gallons of water in their home - BUT they
experience an inch or two of water in their whole basement and furniture
and household items are drenched. (continued)
so how much would have it cost if the services were actually incurred on
that lost? How much do you estimate if Rainbow didn't restore, would the
cost to tear out and replace new for all the damaged building and contents?

I guess you could call this siren "Alfalfa" now with the way the top is
sticking up!
(for those that don't get it, it's a reference to the character from the
film "The Little Rascals")
