Replacing your Kawasaki/honda/suzuki exhaust collars
Now... The cycle salvage calls em shoulders so that's what stuck in my mind - but the kid did say collars which led me to believe this is what he meant - hope I'm ...
Thanks a lot man. Your videos in general have been really helpful to me. I
picked up a 1981 Honda CB750c with 29k on it and have been doing a few
repairs to it. right now I'm doing the starter clutch rebuild kit. I had to
pull the left side of the exhaust so I was figuring out how those
"shoulders" go on because they just kind of fell out when I removed the
pipe. I also changed the crush gaskets like you show. just wanted to say
thanks for the teaching (and the entertainment) because of your site i
bought an older bike I could work on rather than spending a ton on a new
bike (and learning nothing)
Thanks, man. I was remounting the exhaust on my CB 900C and having a brain
fart about the placement of the split keepers when I found your video.
Perfect! And you also saved me from making the mistake of not removing the
old crushed gaskets.
Got it all reassembled and took a great ride up the Angeles Crest into the
mountains and she's running perfect - a minor miracle after a month of
rebuilding carbs, cylinders, etc.
I got a helmet mount with my new gopro 3 .. but overall i am NOT a fan of
the gopro - still looking for something small, lightweight with descent
image stabilization that doesn't require stabilized gimbals to keep it
steady
I have a vid up on the CB900 - believe it or not they are incredibly close.
but if it's just the slip ons that rusted... Kerker K45 is your friend (no
rejetting required if the can hasn't been modded...)
So when you rev the bike the exhaust will not come off, its a quick replacable type of exhaust pipe, you can take the can off/on and switch to different types if the pipe size is the same, because the exhaust can is not welded to the pipe.
This is the absolute best sounding exhaust for this model bike.
The only problems you might have are the mounting points not fitting
correctly, but that is easily fixable.
Hey, I have a 2000 model CBR600FY which i have had stock since I bought it
brand new. Since you have had your pipe a while now, are there any
issues? Packing falling out, bad welds etc? I'm looking at getting this
pipe, or the shorter "JISU" Danmoto sleeve. Kind of tired of the whisper
quiet 600 :)
+walter schutz I have had mine on for about a year now, run approx 5000km on the pipe, and it sounds pretty amazing still. I have noticed i have a lot more low rpm torque, not sure on top speed, as I don't really wind the old girl out too much anymore. It does have an ever so slight leak around the entry cap where the carbon joins the stainless, but you cannot hear it, only JUST feel it. The manufacturer told me that it would seal once heated to running temp, but it does not. For the price, i'm not going to complain as the overall package is worth it in my opinion.
