China faces rising labor costs and a shortage of workers. But a government project called “replacing humans with robots” is trying to change the face of the work ...
Time to begin ending the labour for income paradigm. At the very least, we
need a universal basic income. The automation revolution is gaining pace,
and NO field of employment will be spared its effects, not even doctors and
scientists, which have already been heavily augmented by, and will
increasingly be replaced, by artificial intelligence.
You want to free people from arduous labour? Excellent! Remove the
necessity to conduct labour, and people can spend their time voluntarily
contributing to society when needed.
+Gareth Ham Yeah, the countries that haven't progressed to basic income will not be able to survive the robotic labour revolution, they are the ones who'd lose the irl Civilisation game :D
+Not A Particularly Remarkable Brick Look at you, again without ANY answers to my questions, trying to divert attention by turning them back on me?Already, TODAY, there are millions of people who are living decent lives without the OBLIGATION of arduous labour. (People who have enough 'wealth' to live off it exclusively.)You are either a complete MORON, or you have been misreading what I have written again and again and again.
+Gareth Ham Would you like to present me with evidence that supports anything you said in your OP? you can't, because, ironically, it's wild speculation that you likely developed by watching too many fictional movies. You can't even defend your point, just dismiss my point by saying I lack evidence. If you want evidence that a rudimentary existence consisting of nothing but basic fulfillment of vital functions (which is what will happen if robots fulfill every challenging task in your life) isn't good for you, go through some textbooks in psychology. I'd start with "What Is It" by Lynda Barry, since it applies to this topic. I'd follow it up with "Meet Your Happy Chemicals" by Loretta Graziano Breuning. I'll leave you to it. Toodles.
+Not A Particularly Remarkable Brick I terrify you, because I do not think that people will become what you consider lazy and miserable if they don't have to conduct arduous labour to sustain a decent lifestyle? Even when you have ZERO evidence to suggest this is what will inevitably result?Even if what you assert was correct (which it is not), do you seriously think it better to make people suffer for eternity, without choice? If you can't overcome your blatant cognitive dissonances, please go back to watching fictional movies like Wall-E where you clearly source your ideas.
+Gareth Ham Sure, here's a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_sense People make progress by overcoming challenges - when there are no more challenges left because the robots are overcoming them instead of people, there's nothing for people to do other than satisfy their basic needs. If an existence of nothing but eating, sleeping, disposing of bodily waste and reproducing doesn't sound miserable to you, quite frankly, you terrify me.
+Not A Particularly Remarkable Brick You know as a fact that people become 'lazy' when they will face horrible consequences if they do not submit to arduous labour? Somehow, I cannot agree with that in the slightest, and would love to see your evidence.
+Gareth Ham I doubt it's as easy as that. By having to work, to earn money to sustain ourselves, we are constantly on edge, constantly under threat of being left without a home. Without those conditions, there will be an onset of laziness which will halt human-generated progress. As a matter of fact, if research and development is taken over by machines, we might just face extermination because the machines will deem us obsolete while conducting research and attempting to increase efficiency. At the end of the day, we WILL reach a point where all of our functions can be done better by machines - our existence will be made obsolete, by our own constructs no less. The true way to avoid that point is to become machines ourselves - slowly strip away our own humanity until nothing is left but cold calculation and brutal efficiency.
+Gareth Ham Excellent point. More and more experts come to the same conclusion - robots and automation will end up doing all the basic work for us.UBI (Universal Basic Income) would be a good start and it would provide people with real freedom to do whatever they feel is worth doing.
I wonder what China's take is for mass unemployment because machines have
taken over it's labor..
Could these people even imagine such perception or would the government
even care for it's people and find solutions?.
+miaomiaomiaoish cannot disagree more ... nice copy of western philosophi which has no basic in China for at least more than few decades! China is build on "working like a cow without thinking". If China try now to copy the western philosophy they will fall in a big way!
+Morph Verse Intensive factory work is suffocating for workers anyway. People move to more innovative engineering and service sector. They could join the automation design and maintenance industry, the dining industry, medical caring, domestic service, etc. Working like a cow or a robot without thinking is not the aim of Chinese people. We're climbing the manufacturing chain.

Wen jiabao, the incumbent chinese premier, is the biggest actor in the
country's history. a hypocrite. he accumulated more than 2.7 billion
dollars in his incumbency. to the outsider, he disguised himself as a
thrifty man, wearing the same coat in different occasions, for more than 10
years. Chinese, at least majority of them, will applaud once this guy falls
down.
Bloomberg did not allow comments in the past. why allow on this page?

Well first of all, the tolerance for religion is a problem. If Africa were
to follow China's footsteps, then it's only wise to ban religion. In other
words, it's better to follow Singapore authoritarianism
All religions in China are under control by the state and bravo to CCP. Watch this documentary:youtube [[dot]] com/watch?v=yTfpqof1X5QBtw, it was an Aussie/white propaganda. Watch with caution. If you know anything about the history of religion in China, you should understand it.You guys do not understand how dangerous are "whitewash", "westernization", "Christianization". Thanks fucking <whatever> that the leaders in China are smart. Ask yourself these questions:1 - Why yellow people have to celebrate Christmas? Why white people no celebrate Chinese New Year?2 - Why yellow people have to be whitewashed/westernized/Christianized? Why white people are not being Sinolized or Confucianized? At least someone had some sense with the Singapore's system. It was nicely disguised, right? Much credits to the late LKY.
I see no African's employed? China is keeping the money in circulation by
only employing their people - China own employed citizens are sending the
money back home pumping investment money back into China, while throwing
African's pennies and at the same time stealing all Africa's resources
that's wroth more than the money the are giving Africa - China smarter than
we thought-but still up to no good - Africa sold their people out once
again for the love of money.
+Tommy Holiday: THE CHINESE BRING SOME OF THEIR WORKERS AND MERGE THEM WITH AFRICANS TO ACCOMPLISH THE WORK. THE EUROPEANS WHEN THEY WHERE EMPLOY THEY CONIVE WITH THE LOCAL PEOPLE TO STEAL THE MONEY AND NOT COMPLETE THE WORK. THE CHINESE GOT THIS CONTRACT BECAUSE MANY AFRICANS IN THIOER STUPIDITY HAVE BEEN CONIVING WITH THE WEST IN RIPING OF THIER NATIONS AND STEALING THE MONEY MEANT FOR INSFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT. THE CHINESE HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR THE JOB THAT THEY WERE GIVEN TO DO. IF IT IS NOT PROPERLY DONE OR THEY FAIL TO ACCOMPLISH IT, THEIR REPUTATION AND COST OF DOING BUSINESS IS ON THE LINE.
+andy lee Andy if you think those flat face, rat eating people care about African's you just keep thinking that - Their in Africa to make profits that's it.
stop telling lies and fabricating disgusting storyfirstly, no single Chinese has ever pointed a gun in the African leaders' heads to force them selling the natural resources, so your "stealing" word is just a super disgusting lie.secondly, the price that the Chinese have paid the African are even higher than the natural resources that the Africans have sold to the west, because the Chinese not only have to pay the price, but also have to donate free infrastructures, such as roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, stadiums, and innumerable items, but it's not satisfied your greedy appetite, you want more.I hate liar, no matter what color he has
she is part of the Falungoon cult, famed for smearing shit against China,
they cooperate very closely with anti-China networks on youtube and TV,
they are famous for their baseless slandering against China.
+obsidianstatue Having met several Chinese ex-patriots, I know they hate the Chinese government. They have absolutely no interest in slandering China. They just despise them on basic, common principle, which Chinese philosophy had well understood before the West, by the way. But it is much the same with all governments around the world who are at this point rightfully despised by the majority of informed and intelligent people.
+obsidianstatue Do you live inside China? China is making their best to cover up information they don't like. Falun Gong is not like what CCP is saying. You should sometimes talk and befriend with Falun Gong people. They are all nice people. Maybe you should read the Falun Gong book, you will now what Falun Gong is.
