Is that from your bank back home? I have only ever been charged my normal bank withdrawal fee which is 4 dollars with my credit card.

Good question, I just checked my statement then and my last withdrawal in chanthaburi i got an exchange of 25.54. Xe on that day was around 25.7 not to bad but I guess it depends on ur home bank.

just set up a Bangkok Bank account and use the ABA # to do ACH transfers; Holders of US bank accounts can save on fees for international funds transfers by transferring funds from the United States to Thailand via the US Automated Clearing House system (US ACH) and Bangkok Bank's New York branch, google it for the link

@549silver Political situation seems to be about as stable as Thailand gets. Lots of sabre rattling from both sides but it doesn't appear that any violence will happen soon. The election will be coming up in June so keep an eye on the news during that time. I cover more Thai news on my weekly podcast at Bangkok Podcast

I Live in the U.S. what do you think of setting up an account with the Bank of Bangkok they have a Branch office in New York City and Los Angeles California. I am a Military Retiree and this seems like a good way to set up the monthly EFT as long as I can Draw funds from the account once I live in Thailand.

What a beautiful lady at 3:56. I love Thailand and the people are so nice and friendly. My father had retired in Chiang Mai and loved it. I'll be going to back again and am seriously thinking of living there, at least six months a year.

great info on Paypal for sure. Officially you have to have residency in a country to have a bank account, but it sounds like Thailand is lax. Do they always speak English at the bank?
