Never do something like this. If it says it's out of order don't touch it. Imagine that someone is working on it and for some reason has to keep it on for that brief moment, relying on the decency of others to not try to control the elevator. You could damage equipment and/or cause harm to others.

@thyssenelevator95 well two days in a row! the same thing happens to both of them and they both have the same type of controller. Thats just weird,and it shows how great the Westinghouse quality really is. But I really liked Westinghouse. They were better than thyssenkrupp. and schindler.

@jdtayloruk I hope not, I haven't gotten to film this one yet. I was looking forward to it too. Maybe its something simple that can be fixed easily. I talked to someone that used to work on this elevator he said these older ones are very easy to work on

there was a westinghouse elevator at the carnige museum that used to be westinghouse and had the orignal fixtures just like this. unfortanly otis modernized it and now its an otis series 2 DANG IT

I hoope they dont modernize this elevator, they modernized the Museum and the ones at Presbyterian Hospital which also had these fixtures. Elevators keep getting modernized around here.

I also think with say the originals reaching now 50 years old and dependent on use could be reaching the end of their lives meaning I'm afraid a refurbishment may be needed.

@patricknedz I wouldn't be surprised if I find Macy's in Westfield Southcenter's '68 Westinghouse broken, that thing has stalled on people ALOT from what I've heard.

Sadly I don't think that Westinghouse elevators like it when you film them. They break down so that you can't film. It's a conspiracy. :)
