Hello, can you call me about going through a set of Solex carbs PHH 44 on a 190S Mercedes. phone # 903-275-7035, [email protected] My customer has a set of Mikuni that are replacement not that they don't work good they are not original and this car is 100% original the solax will run and are in great shape for rebuild, And he is set on having these carb,s perform. The secondary barrels are pulling 7 on the rear and 3 on the front with a synchrometer on the front from my years of rebuilding american carb's they are ready for throttle shaft bushings and realignment of the bores of the shafts, they have aftermarket gaskets and from my experience sometimes the aftermarket kits just wont perform up to par. Unless you have sources already lined out its best to have a very well trained person to do the job for you especially the next time i may see a set again is never,

David, I just viewed this again and here are some comments/clarification. The G55 idle jets are brass, have a slot for a screwdriver and a hex for a wrench. They have very tiny holes at the end of them which will clog with the smallest of grit. When this happens your engine will not idle. You can start the car, rev the engine and drive it just fine, but when you try to idle the car, the engine dies. This is an easy fix, even on the road, just remove the jet, blow it out with your mouth or swap the same jet from the 2nd bbl and off you go. That is why I mention fuel filtration is critical. Also, look inside the fuel tank with a flashlight, not a screwdriver. Any questions, just ask. Thanks, Will
