Dana 60's are bomb proof axles, not invincible mind you, but they are great
and very little you can do to them to hurt them, and they are expensive, so
getting a truck with a Dana 44 HD ( Dana 60's slightly smaller brother) and
a Dana 60 axles is a dream come true for us mudders and off roaders, and i
love my '81 J20 to death, easy to work on, easy to work with and drive, and
no other truck beats this thing for pulling tree stumps out of the ground
or plowing tree's down with the front bumper

we have a 74 j20 with the 8 lug axles 401ci and quadratrac at my work. it's
got a wrecker bed on it with the hillbilly deluxe exhaust on it (2 strait
pipes comin up and over the cab), tires that haven't been produced in 15
years, and a 7ft blade on it. none of the gauges, heater controls or lights
work (well the huge spinner on the roof works) but we can't kill it. and
yes we floog it and beat on it every time we plow with it. oh and it does
have cupholders... they're sitting in the bed lol

that and that AMC 360 is a straight torque monster and you should never
need another engine in that thing, all the power you'd ever need and i hear
ya on the gas milage, i think mine get's about 8 MPG with a 17 and a 22
gallon gas tank and the stock engine and transmission, but in a car
accident unless you hit a Semi Tractor Trailer, you'll never loose with
that all steel body :)

This is the only jeep i have seen with the gas cap in that location other
than mine! (also a j20) It is supposed to be a 19 gallon lower and a 20
gallon upper. Mine also has the exact same interior except it is black. Is
you glovebox have a little lock on the button? Is it the 3 speed auto or 4
speed manual?

is your truck straight piped? also is it dual exhaust? i recently bough one
and it has a new muffler on it with the cat still attached and i want it to
sound a little better...

had a J10 401 quadra-trac. blown engine,so I put a 6 in it,then tranny went
out,so I traded it for a SBC for my 79CJ5 ......wish I still had them!
