:( talking too fast for me to understand. (I'm native American, so it's not
an English thing.) Please add cc (not the auto cc, which has butchered your
content) or tell me how to slow this down.
Thanks Kevin (sub'd)
Invaluable content, just the direction I was looking for. I'm already
fluent in HTML & CSS. I have been using wordpress themes for year, so I'm
familiar with PHP and MYSQL, but have zero code knowledge of javascript. I
have finally settled on a theme for my main directory business site but the
developer has stopped supporting and with a huge wishlist of functions I
WANT, I think its time for me take full control of that role myself and
turn it into what I WANT...
Based on your direction, I'm thinking I should...
1) Print, disect and get familiar will all the current code in the them as
it exists.
2) Learn all the PHP and JavaScript functions I come across.
3) Start working on developing my own fixes and updates.
QUESTION: Out of all your links, where 'do you think' I should invest my
time/money first with regards to step #3
Once again "Great Video, Great Content!"
It looks like the form isn't working. I have reported it to the forum developer to see what is causing this. Thanks for letting me know about the issue :)
Thanks Kev, I noticed NO redirects on both the 'Resubmit email" and "contact" dialogue boxes... It therefore kinda left wondering if my click had been registered and fully executed. Hope that helps debug ;)
Cool.I haven't received the email as yet. I will need to do some testing and see if there is an issue with that.I have manually approved your account in the mean time so that you can participate in the forum :)Kevin
+Kevin Muldoon Thanks.. I bought it! I also signed up on your forum but none of my repeated conf email has arrived and not in spam folder. Sent you an email via the forum. Looking forward to coming onboard. :)
+Paul French Thanks for the kind words Paul.If you have the time, you will benefit from learning how to code. It will allow you to control how your projects move forward. On Rise Forums, Raspal just posted about a great deal on SitePoint where you can get over 80 web development eBooks, video tutorials, and lessons, for only $19. You can see the deal at //www.riseforums.com/threads/sitepoint-premium-one-year-subscription-at-19-only-12-hours-left.1897/
Thanks, Kevin.
Lots of useful advice there.
And +1 for books.
Agree also that Udemy quality is variable to put it mildly. And some of the
claims they make - like become a fully fledged developer in 6 weeks - are a
bit wide of the mark imo.
(Also, loving that accent. Reminds this southern softie of the very happy
years he spent living in Glasgow.)
Thanks again.
+Sam Pollard Thanks for the kind words Sam. I certainly have a Glasgow type accent, despite my town sitting in between Glasgow and Edinburgh. There are a lot of marketers who are making a lot of money by selling crap products. And others are brainwashed into promoting these products, or into giving testimonials, in exchange for making some extra commissions or raising their own profile. It's unfortunately very common.:)

When I see someone saying they make money doing this or that, and they want
to teach you how to do the same thing...that usually means that the ship
has sail, the fairytale is over, too many people figured it out and so the
competition is now to make money off of the late arrivals by "bringing them
in". I'm afraid this is not going to be your golden ticket Joe pool guy. Go
to school, I don't care what age you are, how many years altogether have
you spent working your ass off to get through a shortcut to what you want
and never got there? Honestly? Cause I'm 35 and I spent about 30
soooooo...don't let culture sell you selling. that's a pyramid scheme and
it creates nothing. It just moves money around until it lands in the next
guys pocket. Your good enough for the real thing.
Depending the type of website that is being created. Very hard to find a very well rounded "WEB MASTER" to be able to know graphic design and coding. This is why many agencies and firms have several front end and back end designers in their team. This guy is talking about making visually impacting site (wordpress is perfect for this).
