How to make Danish Christmas cookies Vaniljekranse!
Hope you like this howto video! What you need for 35 cookies: - 1 vanilla bean - 180 g of caster sugar - 200 g og room temperated butter - 1 egg - 75 g of almon ...
Those look tasty. I can't imagine how good (and bad for you) they would be
deep fried. Is there a traditional Danish birthday treat? My bday is a
month away, maybe I'll make it if you know of something.
+qqq1701 Hey!Yes we do have Danish birthday treats. I will translate a couple of them for you and converted celcius and dl into cups and fahrenheit:Fødselsdagsboller (Birthday rolls)Basically just white bread where you can but butter, jam, nutella, peanutbutter or whatever you want on them. In Denmark it's common to use butter or jam. We eat these for coffee in the afternoon and before cake(24 rolls) You need:- 500 g. of all purpose flour- 150 g. of butter- 75 g of yeast- 2 eggs- 1 cup of milk- 1 tbls. of sugar- 1 tsp. of saltHow to:1. Melt butter in the milk over gentle heat. Take of the heat and mix in the yeast, while the milk is still luke warm2. Add sugar and salt, whip the eggs and add them too3. Add the flour and knead the dough 4. Let it rise in about 30 min5. Roll them into buns (Google 'fødselsdagsboller' if you want an idea of the size)6. Bake for about 10-12 min in a preheated oven (400 FH)Another thing which is eaten especially in the area of Denmark where I live, is 'Brunsviger'. It doesnt translate into anything, but its like a bread-ish cake with brown sugar on top. Sounds revolting, but is so good!(15 persons) You need:The dough- 250 g of all purpose flour- 25 g. of caster sugar- 25 g. of yeast- 3/4 cup of luke warm milk- 25 g of soften butter- Pinch of saltThe filling - 125 g of butter- 150 g of brown sugar- 4 tblsp. dark syrupHow to:The dough 1. Mix the yeast and the milk untill there is no clumps2. Mix in the sugar, salt and flour. Cut the butter in squares and incorporate while kneading3. Let it rise in 20 min.The filling1. Melt everything in a pan, untill it's well combinedKnow you roll out the dough into a square, about 14 x 10 inches. The dough should be about 1 inch tall. Use your fingers to make little pits in the dough. And now pour over the filling. Let the dough rise for another 20 min.Bake for about 12 - 15 min in a preheated oven (355 FH)This cake is best when it's just out of the oven! It's supposed to be nice and gooey :) When used for kids birthdays we often put candy on top or make a marzipan man. Wow, that was long. Anyway, hope you enjoy! What a nice thing you want to cook something Danish, go you!
