You shouldnt have a problem with using both fuel pumps.as long as your carbs are in good shape.. I bought a custom carb adapter plate from a Hot Rod shop in California.. so thats how I was able to put the Holley carb on the 331 motor.. But you should be good with running the original carbs..

+travis hill I am sure I will be using two fuel pumps just to avoid vapor lock

I was having problems with the vapor lock when I was running the original Rochester carb.. but since switching to a newer carb I have no problem.. But it might be wise to do both is your gonna stay with the original setup...
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-NIx6KobgFAo/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABU/0gY0H4QILgg/photo.jpg?sz=64
+travis hill Might be a bit more difficult to do seeing I have dual carbs... I am not sure if they make a modern equivalent

Im running a Holley carb on the original 331 Caddy engine with a holley fuel pump and regulator.. havent had a problem with vapor lock.. But my buddy is running both electric and manual on his 55 Caddy and hasnt had a problem either..
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-NIx6KobgFAo/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABU/0gY0H4QILgg/photo.jpg?sz=64
+travis hill That is what I have heard as well, put in both manual and electric and then the psi is up so vapor lock is no longer an issue. We will see soon!

Remove the thread nut from fuel line and get some 3/8 copper roll and run in a fresh one. Old one is junk. Then remove brass fitting from tank. You will need to flare each end of new tube to take each male Union. Can be done with some practice first on off cuts. Keep a bowl to hand in case you leak fuel when filling tank. And post us some more vids! In restoring same car! This is how I did my line

But I get my chrome work and interior done in the Metroplex.. and alot of the classic car guys out here I sent to the Dallas area to have there done also..

+travis hill Where is it at? I got a quote from the ASM upholstery for both seats and door panels at $2,500, which is ALOT for me

The line is suppose to screw directly into the tank... I have a 55 Cadillac Fleetwood. I did away with the manual fuel pump and went with a good electric one.. I can let the car sit for months. Go out and hit the gas pedal a few times and she start right up...
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-NIx6KobgFAo/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABU/0gY0H4QILgg/photo.jpg?sz=64
+travis hill I have heard that it is good to use both electric and manual fuel pumps so that you avoid vapor lock under hot weather

@ frank I'd jam a hose in the water out to fill it with water so the air gets out then start it as u would in water then check it as the impeller is just a water pump it may have a air lock when you put it in the water do reverse flush it first

he installed the wear plate gaskets in the wrong order. the impeller must ride against metal shim no gasket can touch the blades.

the pump base only needs to be removed if melted or damaged. The wear plate can be removed without removing the pump base.

im right with you with the fuel economy, ill be getting my first car in 2 years and i would die for one of these monsters; sadly my parents have a different vision of their version of "cars" every time i show them a picture of a car like this, the first word that comes out of their mouth is: "gas guzzler" or "too old" or "too big" and my dad actually said this: " are you kidding?, i wouldnt be caught DEAD in one of those!!!' well, cars today dont have character today, they all look the same

@TBird100636 Im having trouble getting the compiling size right.. ugh. I think ive tried every possible option in the book, and still getting it wrong. The problem being there are so many different tutorials out there saying do this this and this.. each being slightly different. Rick has me trial'ing this setup - being 848x480. Tube says 640x480, but that squishes it something epic. 1280x720 doesn't appear to work either. *sigh*

Hey Auzzy, was going through some of your videos and watched this one again. Really like this video. Wish you had made a pumping video to two. You need to post some new videos with some barefoot cold starts of the old beaters you all get there in Australia. It's been too long since your last videos.

hi auzzie. if you ever make it back to the states you have a standing invitation to visit charlotte, north carolina. I have a huge Cadillac Brougham thats probably as long as the Yorker. Let me know what you think, and i enjoyed the videos you made here.

The Cadillac Sixty-Special and Buick Electra 225 were slightly longer than the Chrysler Imperial/New Yorker/Newport... The Chrysler was less than a half inch longer than the 76 Olds 98...

Hard to believe that US roads were full of these beasts way back in the 60's and 70's. Now, everyone loves their big ol' SUV's.
