1956 LINCOLN PREMIERE 4-DOOR SEDAN -- FORD MOTORS FAIR LADY
The press release by Ford Motor regarding the '56 Lincoln, said of the Lincoln automobile, "It's the fair, fair lady of our family ". And so it is. Fifty six marked the ...
+califdad4 I had seen only one of those commercials. I did know that Ed had a bad accident with his Lincoln and he survived although banged up. I may have even seen a photo of his smashed up Lincoln. Thanks for reminding me.
+55lincoln warren...did you ever see on Youtube, the Lincoln Commercials on the Ed Sullivan show?. Some actress of the day does them, and I read Ed Sullivan always had a Lincoln, actually had a bad accident in his 56, headon collision, someone hit him, Banged him up and he was recouping and Couldn't do the show for the 1st Elvis Presley appearance
+califdad4 The sales of Lincoln increased with this new style in '56. Definitely a better performing car in the fifties vs. the cars from the forties into the 51 model year.
+55lincoln Some people bad mouth them as Mercury's, but as a kid, I could always tell the difference easily. I personally think the 52 to 55 Lincoln is pretty nice and they sold quite a few of them in the day, plus I think it was a better running car than anything they had made in the in the 40's thru 1951.
+califdad4 You know me, I luv all fifties Lincolns. But, I really like that rear quarter panel on the 55 that terminates into those cathedral and canted taillights. I am pretty sure that the Lincoln in the movie " The Long Hot Summer " was a 55, but I could be mistaken. Thanks for all of your views of 55lincoln videos.
I actually like the 52 to 54, but I like the 55 tail lights treatment. I started noticing the early 50's Lincoln after watching "The Long Hot Summer" Joanne Woodward drove a pretty 52 to 54 White Lincoln Convertible . I think I read someplace it was a 52 model
+califdad4 The 55 Lincoln, I think, was the last Mercuryesque car, for awhile anyway. It had evolved from the less notable 52 -54 Lincolns and had an updated body although the windshield wasn't wraparound. To me, there just is something outstanding about the Lincoln in '55. Thanks for commenting.
+Robert Walko I agree Robert. 1956 brought in a whole new Lincoln concept from the prior years of Mercury upgrades. And that dash design is just one of the extraordinary design cues from the concept car. Many thanks to you for viewing and commenting.

318 Polyhead/"BigBlock." Whatever, the motor goes for 200k+. Big and probably heavy, at least it sounds like a big block. $17k.
