PULP FICTION: The Golden Age of Sci Fi, Fantasy and Adventure - FEATURE
Discover the true behind the scenes history of Pulp Fiction and the Golden age of Sci Fi, Fantasy and Adventure, in this amazing fact filled documentary.
I too was irritated by how much the filmmakers used this as a platform to gush about Hubbard. But in their defence some of that gushing was quite interesting and it made no mention of his philosophical works.
Really L. Ron Hubbbard is praised more then HP Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard,
Issac Asimov, Phillip K. Dick, and Edgar Rice Burroughs, writers who are
titans of Fantasy, Adventure, Science Fiction, and Horror are brushed under
the rug for the founder of Scientology that is just not right
+snakes3425 No, he doesn't. Bradbury only mentioned L. Ron because the filmmaker (edited out) asked him a question about Hubbard. Ask any well-read person to name just one L. Ron story... they'll answer, "L who?"
+tikiux5 Even Ray Bradburry, the writer of Fahrenheit 451 and one of the all time greatest science fiction writers of all time, has to kiss up to Ronnie Hubbard
+snakes3425 Yeah I hardly heard the name of lovecraft in this video. Old Ron may have been a crook and a child abuser but he did put out a big volume of work.
Almost no focus on the great Robert E. Howard.
And when they talked about art and illustration, not even a fucking word
about the master himself, Frank Frazetta. I mean he is probably the most
famous of them all but all the focus is on the Hubbard...
I knew something was off, this is a stupid scientology circlejerk
propaganda. FUCK OFF.
I totally agree. I could not believe what I was hearing. There was hardly any mention of Howard and Lovecraft. Hubbard was a hack and was no way in the league of the other writers. Waste of a great subject matter. I am surprised they were not plugging Trovolta and Cruise.

Building The Golden Gate Bridge
Prelinger Archives - Bethlehem Steel Great footage from 1930s of the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge in every phase of construction. Stock shots of ...
+Ryon Martin actually, the bridge has endured a number of earth quakes since opening in 1937, and also survived on during construction when the road deck was only partially completed..This is what Engineers do, they work this shit out so a project will survive what mother nature throws at it, be it storms, rain, wind, snow, dust, ocean swells, and even earthquakes..
As a Journeyman Ironworker I am heartbroken that the writters of this
documentary didn't bother to write in the true grit, the commitment and
courage, and the sacrifices of the raising gang (Union Ironworkers) .. So
much attention was paid to the engineers and planners .. So little credit
given to the men who truly take these projects from sketches and
mathematical figures and bring them into real-world existence .. FORGET THE
PAPER PUSHERS .. America, you should all know that the great structures
that are seen as iconic in this country are built by Ironworkers !! Golden
Gate Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, Sears Tower, 1 WTC, St Louis Arch, Etc. Etc.
... UNION IRONWORKERS !!!
+Nathan Owens Why not explain to others how ironworkers and other building trades scam their lunch hours so by rotating the lunch hours among trades you collectively sit on your asses one third of the day? get a connector to explain it if you are too dumb.
This video indicated this bridge was built with unskilled men hires off the
street. Learn as you go technic. Anyone who work on high steel construction
would know that statement was false. Perhaps a company may hire one
apprentice tradesman to every ten journeyman. These workers was some of
the best union iron workers available at the time. Remember: The company
was ahead of schedule 120 days just building the towers. However: The
company made every afford to pervade safety for the workmen. Until a freak
accident causing a couple of section of wood staging break loose. Falling
down on the safety nets. Many working was pulled down under the water
drowning about 11. Not sure on the count of the survivors. Hats off to all
workman who build our building, buildings and tunnels. Every hour of work
they life's are one step away from death. or injury. I'm one of the lucky
few who survived 38 years working heavy construction out of Boston. Seen
more fatal job accident than I care to remember. *UNION WORKERS *
+al hartOkay thanks! Too bad I can't really find a video to see.. but I guess I'll just have to use my imagination lol I've been so curious about this for a long time.. and I know someone had to take the time to figure out how to make really long bridges over a lot of water. Just like on I10 down by New Orleans or the bridges that go across the Mississippi River
no deep water requires a cason a large chamber built to size (large) needed, float to location, flooded too bottom of water pressurized to expell water creating a area to work in for men and equipment.a spiral staircase in tube is attached for workers to enter, when deep a double airlock is attached at base of stairs to maintain atmosphere and prevent flooding, this allows men to enter and exit and work. scary and dangerous work, bet they earn there wages... i beleave the cason is left in sometimes, otherwise they pour concrete on rebar then lift cason and repete as needed...
Alright thanks! These two videos do help, but what about when the river is deep, for example the bridge that goes over the Mississippi River (I20)? Also I'm curious about the beam ones as well.. like the bridge that goes over lake Pontchartrain (I10) in south Louisiana for over 23 miles. It seems like the water is too deep that the beams would need to be pre-made or something. I mean there's no way they can block that much water to drill a hole to place the beam in, correct?
+jared patterson As you know a picture is worth a thousand words. This above video failed to explain much about building the base or foundation to hold those gigantic pillars. What you want to watch on YouTube is > 3D Cofferdam Presentation < Next; For a more vivid video also on YouTube > Cofferdam Construction. < You'll see how the ironworkers and pile drivers erect the I beam frame before driving steel sheeting, one at a time. After this cofferdam is completed the water is pumped out . Then the mud and sand is taken out of inside your cofferdam. Now the piles are ready to be driven down to bed rock. While pumping the water out, they place the wet concrete. In this case for the bridge it will require thousands of cubit yards of concrete. This concrete placement will continue without stop until all the required concrete is in place. Sometimes a concrete placement that large could go on for days working around the clock. Hope I was some help answering your question.
+dave Drolett please explain something to me, how do they get the pillars in the water to stay? it would seem like they would order them already made and just stack them underwater.. I have not found a video yet that explains it.
+Jon Carrier It's not red, the colour is 'International Orange', a unique colour which was developed and agreed upon for a number of reasons, the most important of which is that it contrasts well against the regular fog which drapes itself over the bay most days, thus making the bridge stand out for shipping traffic.
this Chocolate Lab thanks you for your concern and wishes to assure you

Anyone who doesn't get this is a joke is very silly. But that dog is really
cute and seems to be having lots of fun, i bet he wants to 'paint' some
more soon!
Ok well, this is my first video, but another one is comeing soon of the
webkinz wintertime seal, and a shopping spree schnauzer. I only added this
video on the 21st of October, so not many people have seen it yet! Thank
you so much. remember to subscribe, and let me know what webkinz to draw
next. Have a great day!
