Question: Do you discard the soaking water from the beans or do you cook
them iN the same water? Does this dish traditionally include a pork product
cooked with the beans to season them? If so, what pork product is used?

Hi +lolamarie244 I use a long grain rice. Cooking just like the RICE BOX instructions says and you will be ok. Most of the time long grain rice is about 20-minutes. I use a pressure cooker for my beans, but you can also soak over night. There is a link under the video for all those recipes on my Blog.
