Question: Do you discard the soaking water from the beans or do you cook them iN the same water? Does this dish traditionally include a pork product cooked with the beans to season them? If so, what pork product is used?

+Dabney Fountain Yes i do discard the water. Some folks like using pork for flavor, but I am trying to make a healthier lighter version here. Thanks, Chef Juan

Looks delicious this is my fave rice but I can never get it to come out right. It always comes out gummy. I've always wanted to learn to make this! What rice do u use, also how long to leave it cooking that's the part I never get right. Also how do u make the beans? Yay thanks!!!!

Hi +lolamarie244  I use a long grain rice. Cooking just like the RICE BOX instructions says and you will be ok. Most of the time long grain rice is about 20-minutes. I use a pressure cooker for my beans, but you can also soak over night. There is a link under the video for all those recipes on my Blog.
