I'd definately take off and clean your IAC valve as the previous comment
states, there's a pintel they call it we'll just say a rod with a dome
shaped end and it move in and out. It does this to compensate for your idle
like if it were about to stall the pintel/rod would move in to allow air to
pass by the throttle plate to keep it running etc. I would also just take
the intake cleaner while your at it and spray your throttle body just keep
revving it up while spraying the cleaner so it doesn't
My old D16y8 did the same thing, its called an 'idle surge'. I took it to a
honda specialized shop. He fixed it for like 40 dollars. Not sure what it
was called but it had something to do with a clogged sensor on the back of
the intake manifold..
on the back of the throttle body there is a sensor with a spring in it
remove and spray with carb cleaner and pop goes the spring like new no more
rev up and down i know i have owned 7 civics and 2 crx hondaboy from tenn
Thank you so much for this vid. I have a 1989 chevy s 10 iron duke pick up
that started idling rough. Engine service light on. Did not pull any codes.
Started by remove and replaced the following. TBI, ICM, idle control , O2
sensor, New vacuum lines, EGR valve, runs better yet still have ESLight
still on and isles lower, like it's want to shut off. Needed to know where
temp sensor and MAP sensor locations. Thank you
I'm glad the video was a help to you. I browse YouTube all the time for videos from people working on stuff I'm working on for ideas on how to fix my stuff
2008 Honda CBR1000RR Idle Issues bad valve adjustment
Bike has been fixed via Honda Extended Warranty! No more burning oil! Also needed a valve adjustment. Runs great now!!!!
idk the idle prob, but the pipe getting red is ok. i had a bike that did
that so i took it to the shop, they said i let it idle too long. the
coolant need to be cooled from air passing over it when the coolant is hot
the engine will stay HOT and make the pipe red, this is not good for the
bike. warm the bike up for 1/2 to 1 min then ride it. when i took mine in
it was too late and it would have cost 3 grand to fix, so i sold it. plz
look @ my vid and tell me what you think the prob could be.
I had the same problem with my crf250 as well(once it would start, it would
idle for a few seconds then just die), except mine is an 05, but anyways,
you may want to check something like a clogged jet, and oddly enough, it
may sound weird, but in the carburetor theres a slide for when you twist
the throttle, take out the carb and check to see if the slide is upside
down. Thats what happened to mine. Once it was flipped to the correct way,
it idles PERFECTLY!
Theres either an air leak where the crab sits in the boots you can check
this by starting the bike cold and quickly take a hose and spray water on
the sealing area and if the bike bogs theres a leak. Or your pilot jet is
clogged with junk making the bike overheat very quickly I reccomend
replacing the jet rather than cleaning it the opening is very small. That
should definitly solve your problem about the ideling.
...... did u check the valve clearance there might be to much of a space in
between your exaughst valves ....that what happend to my friends bike
except it wouldent idle because the was 0.001 of a ince between the valves
it might be the same way for your ... just measure the vale clearence look
in the bikes owners manual it has all of the measurements
That's normal man... All my new 4 stroke headers have glowed red in low
light especially with the choke on sitting still because there's no air
flow to cool it down... stock pipes are usually Ti, heat up quick and cool
down quick. Though it does sound like its running a tiny bit rough
My crf150r wasn't idling so we moved the screw so it would idle higher, but
after I shut it off and started it up again it would idle fine, but if I
hit the gas it would idle high and stay there, and if I twisted the
throttle the opposite direction really hard it would idle normaly
the header glows red because of valve overlap which is when the intake and
exhaust valves are open at the same time pushing unburnt fuel mixture out
the exhaust where it then gets burnt causing high temps hence the header
glows red...in other words its completely normal...
Honda's fourstrokes are notorious for valve problems, they aren't that
expensive to fix. Re jetting your carb won't be that expensive either. i
would probably start there, you can tear it apart all by yourself. that's
what i did. new jets are a few dollars.
My dads crf250x did the same thing, he called Naults Honda where he bought
it, and they said it happed to all of the 2006's, he re- jetted it to a .6
difference, and did a valve job and it works fine now...... by the way, how
much was your 250r
The header pipe is supposed to get that hot, most mx 4 strokers do. I've
got an 07 CRF250R and it's done that from new, so does my brothers. I would
hazard a guess that the main jet has come loose, take off the float chamber
and check.
The problem was a clogged main jet. Cleaned the carb and she idles just
fine. I get a bog every now and then off of jumps, but the solution to that
is to be on the gas just before landing which is the only way to roll when
racing.
Thanks for the tip. I cleaned the main jet and started it back up. It had a
steady idle, but when I would crack the throttle it would idle real low and
then pick itself back up. Almost like it was bogging after I revved it.
@patrick111194 - valves need adjusted with shims. Get a feeler gauge and
check the space between the rocker arm and valve. Get a manual to see what
the stock specs are. Buy the proper shims and you're good to go.
1 too lean switch to richer jets or 2 valves sounds 2 me like its just too
lean switch 2 a richer plot jet ... buy a few and see what 1 works best
....i need to jet my bike too mines too rich I CANT STAND BOG
Header is Normal Unless it does it Very Quickly and then you may be running
lean. USE your Head People and Check your Sparkplug, It tells the Story,
Seings How its always in the motor, and Easy to remove.
dont waste you time cleaning the carb. the same thing happend to mine one
of the vavles is to tight. you neeed to take it to get them adjusted it
wont cost that much and your bike will run like new.
