This is my aquaponic setup 6 days after adding fish and planting seeds. I started with a common storage unit that was in my garage, and a new 75 gallon fish ...
Questions please: 1. you have a lot of fish and what looks like not enough
plants to avoid nitrate buildup. What is your measurements of PH, Amonia,
Nitrites, Nitrates? 2. I always wonder why people choose not to use gravel
in the bottom of their fish tanks, can you explain? It would increase BSA
and the fish like to suck on the rocks, called fish candy. 3, what are the
additional hole in the grow beds and the pump intake? Was that to add more
aeration? Looks like you have good DO.
Only thing I would change is mylar instead of white for the sides of your
container. You can get mylar cheap at dollar store as those $1 hot cold
containers if you cut them open have nice shinny mylar, or get one of those
emergency blankets found on amazon will reflect both your heat and your
light back to your plants. Nice setup.
Dude that's a bunch of fry! Congratulations! Trying my hand at breeding
some African Cichlids. I have Crimson Red Peacocks, Electric Blue Ahli,
Sun Shine Peacocks, and a beautiful strain of O.B. Peacocks. Most are
still smaller, but they grow so fast I'm thinking maybe April
MY God the best version i've ever heard: THANK Lloyd: this is Terry Kath

Beautiful Chicago track that has been one of my long time favorite songs
from late 60's/early 70's era and it sounds crystal clear stereo from your
1940's Zenith console!!
Thanks Ken for checking out these 1948 Zenith radio videos. It was fun creating them...Friends, Lloyd.

Saltwater Reef Tank Summer Care
How i take care of my reef aquarium in the heat of the summer, chillers are a huge waist of money, space and most importantly energy. Questions are welcomed!
There are ways to keep a tank without having to spend much, you can make an
ATO for $50. That is nothing. You could probably even find one cheaper on
craigslist or at a LFS. I'm supporting the RIGHT way for fish keeping. Your
obviously not a biology major, or you wouldn't put your fish through such
an unstable environment. You have not proven to me your maturity,
especially the comment on my video. Before you respond again with a
childish, uneducated response, learn something about reef keeping.
okay i have 4 tanks total, a brackish, 2 fresh, and 1 salt. i maintain my
saltwater tank for 3x cheaper than you do as a college student should. you
not supporting the cause for fish keeping at all, you making fish keepers
look like dumb asses! i agree with you on the salt top off already. my
mistake, i add RO anyways. 90 % of the time. also the algae growth helps
stabilize the biological balance by feeding on the nitrates and etc in the
water and feed my snails. im a biology major i would know.
No disrespect ps35kygOd or greenthumb patriot but after over twenty years
of aquarium.fish keeping and others that have keep fish awhile will tell u
there are different ways to keep.fish some wrk.well.for others they way the
way the do it every aquarium.has different parameters so.heres a
suggestion.just stop complaining how one person does theirs if no animals
are harmed and their doing well.it wrks for them.and something wrks
well.for u then cool.other than just enjoy the someone elses tank
I'll have to agree with this video. Unless a tank is running MH lighting or
a crap load of T5's or PC's or has huge hp rated pumps dumping lots of heat
into pumped water, and assuming a very stable climate controlled
environment, I think chillers are one of the bigger scams in the aquarium
industry. That is not to say they don't work to reduce water temps, they do
that well, but they are very expensive for large sizes, consume gobs of
power and seem a huge profit margin in custom installs.
It is really hard to obtain that without proper maintenance, which your
telling people to top off their tanks with salt water, which is wrong. Also
your tank does not look that good. The algae growth is due to your LACK of
maintenance. You say you let the algae from to help feed the fish...the
only fish that will eat the algae is the Tang, which eats hair algae. ATO
is a necessity if you want a clean beautiful correctly set up tank. For a 3
year old tank, it looks pitiful.
there is many "right" ways to do anything- Paten. my tank has the best
natural biological stability there is! between all the live rocks, live
sand, daily maintenance, refugium, copepods, and micro life. i don't have
algae blooms like your tank dose, and man the fuck up, come down here and
we will talk :) P.S. i have a 14 page paper on saltwater reef keeping,
about 40 hrs of research non web. SO STFU TROLL
You do not top off with salt water...your raising your salinity by doing
so. Your also not "feeding your tank" by doing this either. To keep life
and levels equal in your tank an Auto Top Off unit is mandatory to pump as
close to 0 tds RO water into your tank as it evaporates. Also weekly 5-10%
water changes, or even daily or monthly if you prefer, is a must.
Wrong! ATO is not a waist of money. It should be a necessity on every fish
tank. Fish and coral like a stable environment. Not drastic ups and downs.
With an ATO, it pumps in small amounts through the day, instead of it
depleting and you just adding RO to bring it back up all at once.
In the past, I've tried the fan over the water but it made my house humid
and the whole house smelled like a fish tank. Plus, water evaporated so
quickly that I often had to top it off again. Instead, I now cool off the
tank by pointing the fan at my canister's motor.
Ur tank and mine looks the same green back ground, everyone said get
phosphate reactor,I have 0 ,water is perfect, fish store couldn't find
nothing wrong,I can't explain why stuff dying when I get new ones,we think
is too hot then, and Thas why I have so green algae.
I know a lot about saltwater tanks. You never want to add more salt to the
water because the salt mix never evaporates. By putting more salt mix in
you make the salinity go up. The only time you put more salt mix in when
you take water out for a water change
i have a natural biological system pretty much. with over 50 pounds of live
rock sand refugium + 5 pounds of additional rock. i know what ur saying is
right it just isn't a necessity. otherwise my 3 year tank wouldn't look so
good :)
most likely things may die do to lack of lighting or spectrum of light.
this green algae bloom died off after this summer and never returned to
this tank. now it has a clean back with some Coraline algae here and there.
thats the worst advice ever you never add saltmix to top off water salt
dont eveporate and each time your adding top off water your increasing the
salinity of your tank'
That's an excellent idea. My SW tank is not big enough for a chiller it
doesn't seem to need it. I'm glad for that. You're tank is awesome btw,
you've done a great job!
Oh, and also, about your quote. Please show me where you found this. George
S. Patton never said these words. If you can prove me wrong, I will move
on. Thanks.
