I removed the air intake hose so you can really hear how bad the hissing sound is. I still Dont know where its coming from. I removed all the hoses and plugged ...
Ok, I think I finally fixed the problem that has been haunting me!!! I
decided to buy MAF cleaner and clean the Throttle Body, Mass Airflow Filter
and Idle Air Control valve again but then I took all the Vacuum Hoses and
Valves off to inspect them one by one and blew air in them, connected
valves to a12v Battery to see if they open/close. Bingo!! I found one that
had a line blocked from melted goo!! Then I put it in Diagnostic Mode and
Adjusted Idle and Timing again and it all works!!
Hi there, I am dealing with the same problem on my 95' MX-3 . where exactly
is this Idle Adjustment Screw? I already cleaned the throttle real good.
what do you think should be my next step. Thanks I appreciate your input in
dealing with this problem that is being bugging me for quite a long time.
thanks
Update, it wasn't a vacuum leak! That hissing sound is normal and coming
from the Idle Adjustment Screw. If I screw it in all the way, the hissing
sound disappears. I had to screw with it to adjust the ignition timing
because the car failed on smog test on ignition timing and code 16. EGR
Control Valve.
The idle adjustment screw is right on top of the carb. Screw it all the
way in, then back out 1.5 turns. Mine was open to much. That hissing
sound haunted me for months! I finally got another carb from the junk
yard and was able to figure it out and swap the TPS and IAC valves to
troubleshoot.
well the split caused the truck to idle weird. and when I broke it off and
made it so it wasn't leaking it would suck the hose flat. I asked my bro if
he wanted it fixed and he said not to worry about it. so I just left it.
It's probably affecting his gas mileage but he didn't want to put like $10
worth of hose in it. Go figure. I think it's a 2.3L but I'm not certain.
it's pretty similar to my 93 mustang 4 cylinder that was a 2.3 with dual
spark plugs.
