Hi ExcellsFun. Many thanks. I have resolved the problem!! What one has to
do in 2007 is to: 1. Add any Smart Art Object.. 2. Select the inserted
object and Click Cntrl A 3. Click a new cell and simply CLick PASTE from
the home tab.. NB .. Not paste Special. 4. Delete the original Smart Art
Object. 5. Select the pasted object and insert the formula... Follow
everything in the video except for the copying and pasting of the
picture... it works!! Cheers and thanks again for your time
Hi Mark, I have found a new way and much easier. You must have the Camera
icon visible on your ribbon right at the top of Excel (you add it by
clicking the "Customize Quick Access Toolbar)' button to the right of of
the ribbon). Once you have the Camera visible and have followed everything
in the video up to just BEFORE the copying and pasting of the picture
(chart) then you are ready to use the camera. (follows next post)
So, instead of copying and pasting the image of the chart as shown in the
video, simply click the CAMERA icon and then place you cursor where you
want your changing chart to appear and click once. A small window
placeholder thingy :) appears. Click that once and then enter the
=PictureFormula in the formula bar and hit enter.... you should see your
charts there.. Hope all goes well...
I don't really know. You can't put formulas into charts. You can put
formulas into pictures. So maybe the Paste Soecial did not work. See if you
can insert a different picture and see if the formula will go into that
one. Then tell me if that works. I just don't really know without actually
messing and tesing the workbook itself...
Tx for ur prompt reply. Everything worked as u instructed until 7'59, when
I copy and special paste the 4th chart as picture into cell D7. You went up
to formula bar and click in it to enter "=PictureFormula". Excel doesn't
allow me to click on formula bar. Is there other way to put formula into
pic? Thank you.
Hi, Am looking for info on how to lookup more than one chart
simultaneously. I want to have a drop down list with years and then when I
select, say 2011, then cash-flow, expenses, nett profit for that year
display in their own charts.. can't seem to find anything like this.. hope
you can help
I am not sure how to do that. Try this site: mrexcel[dot]com/forum Also,
you could use the new Excel 2010 add-in PowerPivot and then use four charts
PivotChart and the new Slicers. Mr Excel at his YouTube site just posted
about 13 videos about PowerPivot. Try those.
I do not have an answer for you. Sorry. If it is important project, you can
watch this video which shows how to do it with VBA: Mr Excel & excelisfun
Trick 42: Lookup Picture In Excel Formula or VBA?
Thank you for all these nice works and please keep it up, Does this work
for 2007 excel? Cuz, in 8'00, I couldn't go for formula bar and associate
to chart selector in cell D6. Thanks :)
Hi Dude, I dont know if you can remember that you had helped me with
displaying multiple nominations horizontally by using small function. The
formula was something like :
IF(COLUMNS($G4:G4)>$G$2,"",INDEX($B$2:$B$10,SMALL(IF(Name=$F$2,ROW($B$2:$B$10)-ROW($B$2)+1),COLUMNS($G4:G4))))...
Just Wondering if Offset function could be in place of Small Function and
How??This question has been larking in my brain over the last one
year.Could you be kind enough to help.. Best Regards SayefUTS
The trick of pasting the names of the dynamic ranges in places of the
references inside the data-boxes of the chart it's sooo brilliant ! It goes
directly in my repertoire ! Ps I don't know if that can help but when I
have to type the ":" to avoid the annoying double reference I simply pres
the F2 key to exit the "point-enter" mode and enter the "edit" mode :) (ok
not so brillian but very effective !) :)
Hey Mike....I have a few named ranges in a sheet but some now i am not
getting them to work inside a chart using the Indirect Function to make the
chart dynamic.I am trying to refer a cell inside the chart containing a
dropdown list of all the Named ranges.
three sections of custom number format; positive;negative;zero;text Check
out these video titles for details: Slaying Excel Dragons Book #36: Custom
Number Format & the TEXT function Highline Excel Class 27: Custom Number
Format & TEXT function
Another way to do it is: Make two dynamic ranges using offset and count.
Then make a third range which has #n/a for every value in the range. Then
just hide the line and markers of the third (dummy) range.
If may seem off track to ask this here but here goes: I'm amazed wid the
way Live Tiles work in Windows 8. Is there anyway v can hv random data info
represented in similar format in excel?

Excel Dynamic Chart #15: Array Formula & Table Nomenclature for Top 10 Wrestling Score Chart
See how to make a dynamic chart that shows the top ten wrestlers names and scores using an array formula, Excel 2007 Tables Feature with dynamic ranges ...
Unless you are an advanced user when is fluent with array formulas, I would
not do this. The best method is just to use Filter, then copy and paste.
Try the videos I have on Filter: Office 2010 Class #35: Excel Sort and
Filter (Data Analysis) - try at 6:42 minute mark youtube [dot]
com/watch?v=hOWBTLCnGKk But you will need to filter the number column and
do the "top 10 filter" In fact, the Filter method is MUCH MUCH easier than
the formula method and is a very common method
@ExcelIsFun My reply doesn't seem to have appeared so thank you again for
the fast reply. The problem was actually with a formula in the source cell.
I have another question to this formula. How could it be changed to show
the absolute top ten. So with the example from the, if there was a entry of
-120 I'd like that to appear at the top
@ExcelIsFun Thank you for such a fast reply. As is typically the case a
while after posting. The cell it is connecting to is part of an array that
is pulling out the top ten numbers associated with a criteria. I fixed it
by changing the reference to the dynamic range in the table rather than the
actual cell reference.
Been trying this all day and I feel as though the table nomenclature has
changed or is different for Mac 2011. When I go to put in the
INDEX(wt[name]... it doesn't recognize the square brackets? So I have to
put the full formula in for INDEX and it tells me I've got too many
formulas.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Followed the process to the letter
but I result that I get oin the cell is a 0. I've gone through the formula
evaluation, and it is pulling out correct row number. I've obviously done
something wrong but I don't know what. Any ideas?
If you are taking an Excel class, I can't imagine that they would have you
do something this complicated. In your class, do they teach advanced excel
techniques like this? If they are, then cool!! I am glad that the video
helped!!
@prothja1 , I am not sure. Zero usually means you have a zero in the cell
or it is looking at an empty cell. It is hard to know unless one looks at
the formula. You had all the right columns? You did Ctrl + Shift + Enter?
This has been so very useful! Could i do something similar and extract the
bottom 50 results in a separate table? Or extract the bottom 20%? i look
forward to your reply! Thankyou! xx
It is a great video. However, would it be possible to choose the beginning
date and ending date and display the top 10 list during that period of
time?
