heard about this guy for a while, never heard him until now, only my
opinion, but I don't think he's very good, nothing exciting, or new, guitar
playing really is not to good, or the vocals, heartfelt yes, good no....but
only my opinion.
+dak hodge you really think he's trying to make black music? ok, he's likely influenced by black blues guitarrists, but his style is much more in line with a very white branch of american folk and country music. although saying even that would be to dimish him, he's extremely unique and personal, which was pointed out by every reviewer I've come across. regardless, he's trying to be anything but black music. I have NO idea where you got that from. you also seem to care more about clean notes than actual good songwriting and beautiful heartfelt singing, both of which will has in spades.
+dak hodge / American music is influenced by 'black' music, and music of the British isles, etc. He is at very least a purely American songwriter. Music is like food, some people like cheeseburgers and some people don't, you can't tell someone their taste buds are wrong
+dak hodge Well, "weird" is irrelevant, I'm sure you'd agree. He's definitely a white guy, although, apparently human ancestry can be traced back to one continent, so I don't know how much skin tones that have fluctuated according to their proximity to the sun are wholly definitive of an individual. But you mean (I'm guessing), those who've lived the Black American experience. I've never heard him characterized as wanting to be Black, but I could see "soulful." You have an ear for guitar and vocals? I do want to say, that very, very often when a person critiquing an artist, starts out with, "he wants to be the next..." or, "she's trying to be just like...," they're making a snap judgement, without adequate info. Btw, I thought Kurt Cobain could sing, and there are some people who know a lot more about music than I do, that'd agree.
im sorry my friend, but I don't feel it, I see a weird white guy trying to make black soulful music but bad guitar playing and bad sing should be left to the grunge bands
I'm just saying, i'm pretty sure there wasn't a single clean note plucked through the song, its like J.J. Calle, his recordings suck!!!!! everyone admits it, eric Clapton, music mags, damn fine song writer, for other people though.....
