"No tea" for unreasonable is pretty cool. American Southerners will reject
an unreasonable idea by saying "That dog won't hunt," which is maybe even
more peculiar than "no tea." Enjoy your time and be sure to get around as
much as you can. I did the college gaijin experience in 1990-91, living in
Iwate Prefecture. I worked too many extra tutoring jobs and missed out on
some sightseeing. Saved $18,000 for grad school, but in hindsight I wish

Haha, I love how excited you are about how kanji makes sense. Wish I had
more friends that thought the same way. ("I hate kanji! I'm just gonna
write in hiragana for everything forever!") But it really adds beauty to
the language.
