hmm one question please, i have installed angel eyes on mine and these
seems a little bit bigger will the angel eyes fit there well if i glue them
or the difference is to big pls be honest
Hi.... your reflectors seems to be smaller than the original one. Are there
any negative effect on luminosity compared with not burnt original
reflectors?
+Oida Hawi yes they are slightly smaller, it's a more recent design of reflector (Audi Q5 reflector), so more efficient. I would say it's equal to new (not burned) ZKW projectors in light output.
+Retrofitlab I was looking at the price difference between the lenses and the projector you suggested, and it seems like getting the projectors is a better deal, even though I don't need them, it doesn't hurt having an extra pair haha.Got a couple questions though.1 - Is it a direct fit? I don't need shrouds, rings, none of that, right? Just take mine out and put that one in? Since I have BOSCH headlights and those are BOSCH style projectors it's probably a direct fit, but I'm not sure...2 - Do I need to do something in order to get Bi-Xenon functionality since mine doesn't have it from the factory? Mine currently only does low beam I would assume there has to be something I need in order to control the ''reflector''.Thanks in advance! ;)
+Pedro Yes that's the thing, nobody would recognize it, and the light output is perfect so it will not give any problems. The ZKW lenses fit directly indeed, but I would recommend to take complete new E46 projectors, they have clear lenses installed already. https://www.retrofitlab.com/en/xenon-projectors-1/bosch-e46-bi-xenon-projectors-1.html
+Retrofitlab that's the thing though. even though it's legal if you have the ZKWs (my car has BOSCH) you can't legally retrofit ZKWs for example or make any mods to the existing lights so they work like ZKWs. It probably sounds a bit ridiculous.. Nobody would ever know I switched them though.. unless I got stopped by a BMW nerd cop haha thanks for the help anyways! I definitely plan on buying some stuff from you guys!Oh, btw, since we're already going back and forward.. can you tell me if the clear ZKW lenses you guys sell fit on the BOSCH projectors without modifying them?
I'm from Portugal so it will probably work, but it's likely to be illegal, like everything else in this moronic country. My 7 series works like that though but I'm guessing the police aren't willing to stop a 7 series and moan about it having an extra high beam haha
+Pedro That depends on which country you are from. If your car is from USA or canada, it will not (not legal there). In European countries it will work that way indeed.
Terrific video! Thanks for posting this for us. I've got an '05 with badly
burnt ZKW reflector bowls. To fix the problem I plan to buy a set of used
AL headlight assemblies and do some parts swapping. My question to you is,
does it make more sense to: 1) keep my ZKW assemblies and simply replace my
burnt bowls with the AL bowls, or 2) pull out my ZKW clear lenses (along
with their armatures) and mount them to the AL assemblies. I'm not which
would be an more effective/easier swap.
Hey man, great video. I've been watching it step by step as I disassemble
my lights. I have ZKW lights, but using your video to do the burnt bowl
replacement... Anyway, I'm having a hell of a time getting the auto
leveling arm popped out of the hinge (4:23 in your video)... Can you shoot
me a message or reply with more detail on how hard it is? Did you pop it up
to the top or bottom of the hinge? I don't want to break anything! Thanks
in advance! Your video is great!
Question: Do your inner halogen's turn on with the brights? I have a the
same set up as you. Halogen on the inside, Bi-xenon's on the outside. The
only time my inner halogens turn on is when I pull my turn signal stalk
toward me for the "flash to pass" mode. When I push it to bright light
mode, only the bi-xenons go to bright. The inner halogens don't come on
then. Seems like a waste of space and engineering to use them for "flash to
pass" only. Thoughts?
Hi Xion, please help me a bit. I bought a car that had an accident and my
xenon headlight casing have almost all the clips broken. The headlights are
fit with screws and metal clips so they work but I would like to have my
car neat so the question is is is possible to buy cheap second hand normal
headlights and replace the interior with my stuff, are the xenon and normal
headlight casings the same?
goodshit bro. this helped me out lol but when putting taking the motor off,
i noticed it was easier to do it BEFORE you twist the headlight knob. less
tension on the motor rod. then to put it back i just took out that cover,
and popped the white clip off, and clipped it back in. took no longer then
5 seconds.
i have a 2003 330i with out a projector light in the headlight compartment,
its just your basic two light bulbs. my question is can i just swap it out
with original BMW headlight that come with the projectors, is there any
harness needed to be swapped or is it just plug and play? thanks
@dmirocha Whats up. The high beam lights are only on if the DRL feature if
on from factory. I have mine disabled, but when I pull back on the stalk
they work as flash to pass. If I press forward I have my bi-xenon high
beam.
I still can't figure out if mine is AL or ZKW. I am fairly certain it is AL
but it is also NON bixenon its single xenon with no little motor below the
projector and divider. under the shroud.
Well yea that's what I was getting at. Oh btw I just did this and I think I
blew up my adjuster motors when I disengaged them from the bowl, now they
make a clicking noise. Think I broke them?
is vht nightshades safe to spray inside the headlamp? i know it is
flammable but dont know if it would combust after dried. thanks in advance
knowledge bearing viewers.
I have one pair mint condition zkw projector bowls for sale.you can replace
your burnt bowls without any modification.please contact me if you are
interesting!
ZKW projectors bowls burn out no matter what. There was never an update for
them. Only thing you can do to stay OEM is get AL projectors.
BMW E46 3 replacing burned xenon projector in Bosch AL headlight
//www.retrofitlab.com/xenon-projectors/bosch-e46-bi-xenon-projectors.html The BMW 3 E46 OEM xenon headlight suffers sometimes from burned projectors ...
+Beko Yes we sure have, it's the EvoX-R that will easily replace the original Hella projector. You will not even need to open your headlight. https://www.retrofitlab.com/en/xenon-projectors/hella-evox-r-bi-xenon-projectors-1.html
+Jey Galiza do you have the halogen headlights? Then we recommend our E46 MH1 kit. If you have already xenon headlights, it depends on if you have AL (single xenon or bi-xenon) or ZKW headlights!
that really did help, will you make a product review about led or car cameras, if you like doing this, i can ship you the product for free, or money as payback.
+Disphonic x that's right, but new shrouds do not exist with the Word xenon, as far as I know of. The little tabs on the back of the shrouds are different, that's why the only way is to glue them. You could use JB weld for example. That's strong enough but will still alow you to remove it without cracking it.
+Retrofitlab Thank you but it doesn't have the words "Xenon" printed on them. My projector is 3" also. Do you know where I can find them? Also another question, mine don't glue on like these? I can snap on them on with my xenon ones and they stay via little notch on top of projector. Why can't I snap this one on and have to use superglue? I won't be able to ever remove it if I put super glue on therefore I can never replace my actual projector (without removing the without the entire reflector), unless I crack this shroud off. Just doesn't make sense to me.
+ayman ismail Thanks! The angel eyes we have them seperate, here's the video: https://youtu.be/ppwku27DT1ghttps://www.retrofitlab.com/en/accessories/bmw-3-e46-led-angel-eyes-1.htmlThese can be mounted on this AL Bi-xenon headlights.
SICK set of Cleared and ZKW'd Acura TL Chinese Headlights
My CDM 3G TL headlights with BMW ZKW 330xi lenses, cleared type-s style diffusers, blacked out type-s style reflector housings, Euro DRL's, and 48LED ...
The projectors themselves are a TL hybrid setup with 04/05 lense holders
with 06/08 rear reflector bowls that I pieced together. The lenses are 3''
ZKW's from a BMW 330xi. Thanks man!
@HmoobNatural A guy who was selling them online after a dealership in china
(where they sell the 2006-2008 TL with these headlights) was a victim to
hail damage. I lucked out :)
