Check out Squirrels forum! //forums.thetoyz.com This video is on how to buy a used RC and what to look for. I also give sellers tips. The buying side allows ...
@bentleyshane Im very new to the hobby. My first and only vehichle is a
team associated tc3, and other that learning to tune it from your videos,
and getting to play with it...thats all the experience I have. . So im
wondering...is this a wise move on my part? I mean im not going to miss
anything I am getting rid of, And all 4 of the vehicles run, the two
evaders have no problems at all, but the 4tec and jato each have a problem
he said wouldnt be hard to fix. . what do you think squirrel?
well, Im not forking out cash, but Im meeting a guy on monday from
craigslist. WE are doing a big trade, he is lookin to get out of the hobby,
and Im looking to get into it. Im trading a bunch of stuff I dont use or
need anymore (car and home audio equipment, metal detector, broken ps3,
games computer hardware and monitor etc) for one 4tec that needs a clutch,
two evaders, both run and are in good shape, one with new 1.8 motor, and a
jato 3.3, he says the jato wont kick into second gear.
i would say the best advise is too buy used off someone you know, better
yet a car you know. eisyier said than done. but where i race every weekend
theres cars for sale. if you go to a track week after week and get to know
people, and a lot of the time people are selling cars they race so you know
how its used and how the owner takes car of the car, or lack of. its worth
the wait, your not gonna rip off someone you see every week, or better yet
know
Quick Question. I have two people on Craigslist that are selling (1) T-Maxx
3.3 brand new alum. upgrades (skid plates a-arms etc.), reverse, two extra
sets of new tires/rims, extra stock parts 1 tank ran through, 2 months
old...$100 (2) HPI Savage 4.6, all stock, no extras included other than
remote manuals etc about 4 tanks ran through, 6 months old...$155 What one
do you think is the better deal. Upgrades and Traxxas VS. Durablilty and HPI
Hi, LOVE the videos! very in depth analysis. I am a 31 year old new dad and
really want to buy a decent -as possible--RC for under $200 (and I mean
EVERYTHING for under $200) I have looked at the Traxxas line. Would love to
see a video of (The best R/C Truck for under $200) Many thanks, I
appreciate your kind consideration in advance. Sincerely MuMed Also, I live
in Japan. Expensive stuff here!
@mochimaster1 honestly man, go with electric because you are new too the
hobby because Nitro is really meant, for experienced drivers and they are
harder to maintain then electric i should know i have been running with
Nitro R/c' s since i was your age, you need knowledge of these picky little
engines but if you must know hit me back with a personal massage ill be
happy too help you out.
hey i was wondering because i got a nitro rustler 2.5 used and at first it
was running great and after about 3 to 4 months the motor started to lose
compression then i stooped using it after a period of time and when i
started using it again it would NOT want to start so i cleaned the motor
and the piston but that had no effect what can i do to fix it or should i
buy a new motor????
hey squurrelod, i wanna sell my cars, and i got 1 hpi e10 in pieces, 1
tamiya tt-01 stock. i got 1 schumacher rascal without the engine, i got 1
schumacher menace 4x421. and it need a new 3 speed trans, cause its old,
and i got 1 new team vtx just broke in by ur newschool mode, how much can i
expect to get, its it enougth to buy a hpi baja or another 1:5 scale cars??
Great information. Wish everybody would follow this. Can not believe the
number of overpriced crawlers and hopped-up r/c I see in classifieds, not
just Ebay. Plus one more part of spending all kinds of money on an r/c
besides you don't get that back! Most likely you build a car based on your
personal likes. Not necessarily the likes of anybody else. Thumbs up.
hey squirrel i bought a used ofna ultra lx comp buggy with a red 80 dollars
new carrying bag and a nice 70 dollar new peak detecting charger and the
buggy has a new set of losi racing wheels and rims that were 40 dollars new
and i have drove it and it starts and runs good it has the stock .26 engine
do you think that was a good buy for a used buggy?
I bought my T-Maxx used but with TONS of aluminum and RPM hop ups and
spares and accessories, extra tires, only about 1 1/2 gallons through the
engine, except it was a .15, Onyx 210 charger only used once, two 7.2
batts, $60 temp gun, and lots more for $150!! Only downside was shipping
for $60. Awesome deal altogether!
Right on bro! People on craigslist need to watch this video! They buy a
Brushless E-Maxx & play with it for a month and put some trash integy
bulkheads on it & list it for 550.00$! ITS TOTALLY LAUGHABLE. the average
resale is 1/3rd to maybe 1/2 of the actual cost depending on upgrades, good
servos, good pipe, ect, ect
@Squirrelod Thanks for getting back to me so quick! and thanks for the help
im going to look into the revo! quick Q i got a 4-tec 1.5 for 50bucks the
engine needs a new piston and sleeve im thinking about just buying motor
mounts and throwing the 3.3 on it whats your opinion about the 4-tec 3.3 as
a racer?
@TheOldgreg999 Roast Beef sandwiches or a Peanut Butter and Jelly? I prefer
a good roast beef with lettuce, mustard, and cheese. Just like the above,
its personal preference. Its in what you want to do with it and how you
run. I prefer the savage honestly but that is just me and what I do with
the trucks.
yea buying used cars is risky i bougth a full aluminium estended t maxx
with a big block enginge it runs like shit steering servo barly works none
of the screws match ive replaced lots of aluminium for stock plastic pieces
after i take somthing of it aint going back in easly wat a waste of money
@JTHTHTRUHRR Its winter time (just about). The cost of nitro is starting to
fall as noone wants them in the rain/ snow. I think that you can get a
better deal. Go on ebay and look at comparable buggies that have finished
at auction. What is the going price? If it is close then snag it up.
the 1 thing i hate about ebay is the age, u have to be 18, and i like
looking on ebay for hop ups and im lookin at getting a hum battery pack for
my savage, but i dont have an acc, but my mum does, so i have to get it
through her acc, thats the only thing i dont like about ebay
ok im trying to sell a almost new hpi nitro mt2,i had it broke in my a
major rc freak freind of mine, then i ran about 5 tanks through it,then the
carb nut got lost and wont start and im just not into them any more check
out my video, its on my page and pls give me some tips.
Hi Squirrelod! I have found a Kyosho inferno 7.5 for 300$ and it is a 2009
model and my question to is if i sould buy it? The seller says that he have
driving with it 3 tanks and no more cuze hes friends dont have time to
drive with him ! So should buy the kyosho or not?
@Squirrelod Hey squirrelod, Is the revo a good truck? im lookin for a good
monster truck. i had the 1.5 t-maxx back when it came out and hated it!
that kinda destroyed monter trucks for me but im looking to get another one
is the revo good or could you tell me a nice one
@PCRampagE Hi- Id recommend selling in the spring unless you want to take
offers from people. I would determine value based on condition of the kit,
wear, and scan ebay for auctions that are completed/ finished to see what
people have been paying. The cost will vary.
Yeah a few times, the engine ran good, except wasn`t that fast because I
was using 10% Nitro and I needed to adjust the second gear. But I got my
Savage X SS K4.6 so I havent used the T-Maxx in a long time. You now how it
is when you get a new better truck, lol.
One of my friends has a Losi 8ight 2.0 race roller that hes selling cause
he never had the time to put a engine or radio equipment in it. He is
selling it for $150. Is that a good deal for it. I am thinking about buying
it and converting it into an electric.
Buying used RCs- Good or Bad? Worse on Ebay? - CWN Show 63
Get Cooking With Nitro at: Itunes Market Place Zune Market Place PodBean for Droid and all other users: //cookingwithnitro.podbean.com Ustream- ...
As newby to RCing I agree that buying used is buying someone elses problem.
I have wanting to get into the hobby for a while and just didnt wont to buy
used and decided not to buy the cheap brans, so, I am building a slash 4x4
from the chassis up from all new parts off ebay. Got some awesome deals and
won a few great auctions too. I think in my case where money comes in a
little at a time this is the ways to go especially if you have the patients
to search for the deals and time the auctions.
Im assuming that the "forum coordinator" comment is directed at me- Are you
sure I did nothing about it or that I did not hand it off to someone else
as I have been out of the pocket for the last 2 months working on a custom
Toys For Tots kit? Also, please read the forum sale area rules. It states
that the section is "buyer beware" and that the deals between two
independent parties are just that- two people's independent deal that has
nothing to do with the forum and we have no responsibility
For us to step in for you, we have no more leverage than you do. Just
because someone has a "mod" title by their account does not mean that we
have the same authority as the police or judicial systems. To expect us to
do anything, outside of an email or PM that you have done yourself, is
pretty incredible. There are links on what you can use to help yourself in
those sad, and frankly, dissapointing instances. Every forum falls victim
to a few that are not honest, all we can do is look into
i think its just ebay smarts. should ask questions before you buy always.
condition may say good, and read description. ask a question, ask if
anything is broken, how it was used, etc. i make sure my are adult owned,
not bashed, etc. READ THEIR REP!. if they have amazing good rep, they won't
try to scam you out of 100-500 dollars. they have better to do, and if your
product came malfunctioning or broken you can return for your money back
because ebay is like that.even if no return back.
Is that the DM1 in the backseat we see there? =P Did you see that "Jang"
has a DM1 project now? Oh, sorry, he has gotten lazy and now has to film
other people's stuff now for his own. Is there anything that he does not
copy you on? Did you see the Maxamps comparison video that he had to take
down and blamed it on "Maxamps called YouTube and demanded it be taken
down". Like that would happen. What a bitch! He wants to run his mouth but
his ass cannot cash the checks his mouth writes.
i buy most my stuff through ebay i live in perth western australia and have
hpi savage flux and e firestorm flux its so much easyer to source from
america and cheaper and it takes less time to ship and recive than my local
hobby store the savage i brought second hand of ebay . dumb move right ,
wrong you just have to make go communication whith the seller and be sure
its wot you wont i paid about 650 shipped to my door and the bloke through
in heaps ov bits and peices he had for it
From my own personal experiences, I have detailed as much as I could about
an RC and included pictures. I have had people file claims for, as an
example, a B4 with no wing on it. In the description it stated "no wing"
and the pictures show "no wing". Of course, Ebay sided with them. Also, I
did not list a few upgrades, like CVDs that were not stock or what AE uses,
and he hit on that too. I cannot list all upgrades all the time. Some
people buy without thinking, ie: drunken buys.
I have had pretty good luck with Craigslist as a seller, although one deal
went south quick. I sold a "used" highly upgraded SC truck roller. To
entice the deal, I threw in a fairly new Savox 1258. The buyer showed up
after we already discussed the price and he starts picking apart the truck.
Telling me how it sucks. I told him never mind then. He ended up buying it,
and then started calling me constantly saying the Savox servo was
glitching! Well no shit, gotta run a cap on it!
Closest hobby store for me is about 4-5 hours away so almost anything from
ebay or off the internet is cheaper. Anytime i make that trip its about
100+ dollars in gas. Id rather buy from a local hobby store but we dont
have one and i would start one myself but dont really know how to go about
starting one up. Also ebay has its good and bads i once but a xxxt and it
was mint then i got another and it was all rusted to shit. Just gotta take
the risk and be ready to rebuild.
idk, i buy most of my stuff from ebay and i recieve nothing but good
quality items. ive sold a few too. I bought my sc10 from ebay not too long
ago. novak 13.5 , lrp sphere esc, cvds, etc etc. came with everything but
reciever, transmitter and battery, which was what i was looking for... Came
out to be 150, which is a good price i feel, new rtr is 200 and i would of
got either sc10rs or xxx-sct... and with the motor etc i saved alot of
money, and it is working perfectly.
That is the DM1 ;) As for the net drama- keep me out of it. I know that he
constantly wants to create drama but I have enough going on where I dont
have time to deal with anything else. If you have something to address with
him, take it to him directly. I did talk to Maxamps as I was talking about
a battery question and it was brought up, I have their side of the story,
while it does not look good for URC, that is also a URC and Maxamps issue
with zero to do with me.
I have bought and sold on craigslist.. I regret selling my E-Maxx Brushless
on craigslist. It had a Tekin RX8 with mamba monter motor.. With 2 2-cell
lipo batteries made by Thunder Power.. The person did not know the basics
of the rc world.. So he left the lipos in the hot car, called up and said
what happened (crashed it al well).. I told not going to refund but if the
lipos charge they still might work but keep an eye on them and probably buy
some new one.. CONT>
I see it as two sides to every RC sale - U have the seller who wants to
over price a car , buggy , truggy or truck that they totally tore up - Then
you have the buyer who loves to low ball the seller or try and buy parts
off of a RC that the seller has clearly put in the ad as a RTR - Word of
advice to to the seller , if you want top dollar for your car clean it
thoroughly and replace the broke or badly used parts and the buyer , STOP
TRYING TO LOW BALL
Bought a 9e from ebay, BEST deal ever!!' the seller had it in great
condition n send me extra stuff -good expensive stuff - that wasn't listed.
Buggy runs the best, n smoothest! Also very very bad experience on the
forum when trading n guy claims to have sent me the buggy n it never got
here, USPS proved my truggy was delivered to his house. The forum
coordinator didn't do anything about... Really bitter taste left till this
day.
Get it cheap, as long as you can get parts and find them, it will be a
great to get into racing and see if you like it, and if you do, you can get
a buggy that is more modern or suits you better. You will also make friends
at the track, they might let you try theirs, and you can see what it is
that you like. Also, by driving this one, you can see what fits you and
what does not. Dont jump off the deep end if you dont have to....
When you walk a mile in this guys shoes, as I have in the past, you will
then understand. It sucks. I never took it out on the forum though. It was
my responsibility and I handled the agreement that I entered myself into.
When it happens to you, its the worst feeling in the world. So, I genuinely
feel for this guy. But at the same time, he should recognize that people
like that are out there and he has to handle his own issues.
hey squirrelod. i really like all your vidoes. I do have a question about
the toyz for tots axial wraith build you did. I have just order a new one,
not from e-bay. My question is where did you find all the parts and servo
for that build. I have looked around a bit on the net and did find some of
them. Wondering if you have a link where all parts could be order from at
one time. thanks man. keep up the great work
I have to say, I sell and buy vehicles on forums and then grab parts on
eBay. I buy almost all of the cars used because you can always find a
person who only ran it 3 times and with a 50% depreciation rate for
something I will probably sell anyway I would rather not take the hit. I
have bought a couple new and built them as well, but not as important to me
personally. My .02
When I get to people like that, I just say "no thank you" and then stop
replying. Some people are too used to getting their own way and have that
attitude, or want to drill you down further in price. I dont have to sell,
so I am in no rush. This shocks some, and they do not get the item. Id
rather say no today and go without the cash than a headache down the road.
=)
Oh you got a new truck, must be nice. Haha just kidding, i listened to the
show. I have had some great sales over rctech and btw its free. Very nice
people there and you have a pretty good idea on what kind of business they
do by their trader rating. Ebay's not bad either scored a brand new bce
chassis equipped mugen mbx5t truggy on there rtr for $600.
You got it right there, Expectations..... People expect to get an almost
new item for the price of a used one.... jerks like that annoy me The other
side of the fence, Listings can be full of lies about the item. When it
comes to RC on ebay, I look at it as buying a roller and if the electronics
or engine work, then thats just a bonus :P
Hi Squirrel, liked the video, had a hard time with the audio. The cabin
noise made it a little hard to hear everything you were saying, but I
enjoyed the camera angle. It was like we were riding with you, take care
and can you let us know how you lost the 40 lbs, I could stand to loose at
least that much, take care...
Oh ya, totally agree, eBay takes 12% off the top (9% final value, 3% Paypal
(which they also own) when you sell, I sell there as a last resort. I do
buy parts there quite a bit. Some of the good sellers get shipped much
quicker than you can find online elsewhere, plus you can get some used
parts at a discount

You're giving away my secret. I buy hopped up cars all the time. Return
them to stock and sell the bling separately for a profit.
Also consider buying used. Let someone else take the hit in value. That by
itself makes your kit investment grade. RC doesn't have to be a loose /
loose investment. I have 7 kits all extremely modified. What did they cost?
0 thats right 0. Actually I made over $10k building them just buying and
selling while keeping the parts I needed.
My cars...
Rustler vxl
Slash 4x4 hcg
Xo1 offroad truck that's mostly carbon fiber
Slash 2wd lcg
Scx10 all scaled out
Rustler speedrunner RX8 powered
Hot Bodies D-4 cool til u need parts lol
you forgot to mention the shiny gcm diff cups!;) very nice exo, need to
finish mine, but i just got the sidewinder 8th for my slash so the wife's
eyes are a bit narrow at the moment.
SwordShine how to get RCS free and lvl up advice!
This is how you get RCS (ACs) for free and the best place to lvl up! Enjoy!
I bought a WW/DDI for $500. The parts are worth that now a days. I do believe that but mine are failure to eject. 2 out of 240 rounds. It was very strange to see one particular failure. Had two empty casings and a bolt was attempting to feed another live round into the chamber. Rather odd. Another found its way into the trigger group area.
Waffen Werks use to be built on NoDak Spud (NDS) receivers. NDS receivers were the best receivers an AK builder could buy. When they ran out, they started making their own. There were riveting issues and the new receivers were bent making rails canted and holes drilled crooked. They fixed that issue with the "milled" receivers. Now DDI made a run with Waffen Werks parts. I bought one for $500. Runs pretty decent. Had 2 FTEs out of 240 rounds.
Not saying you don't have a great rifle or anything but this is pretty much all the info I've seen on em. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=waffen%20werks%20issues
My buddy and I both have this same gun, and we've never had any problems with them as long as we used Bulgarian mags. Russian ones work OK, but I've had two double feeds while using them. We both have 1000+ rounds through each.
