How to Install Foam Weatherstrip Tape and Seal Your Door
How to Install Foam Weatherstrip Tape and Seal Your Door In this video, M-D Building Products explains step by step how to seal your door with foam ...
Wait a minute. The MD product instructions on the package (right in front
of me) say to remove the paper, which is adhered to the sticky side, before
applying it to the door stop. This video looks like the sticky side is
facing out after removing the paper. (??)
+envelope555 Some foam tapes have paper on both the adhesive side, as well as the non-adhesive side, to protect the foam surface. The tape in the video appears to have this type of setup.

Hammond Unsure About F-35 Order
British operational military pilots have begun flying what is being touted as the world's most advanced stealth fighter jet, the F-35. But even as they take to the ...
Why do we (Brits) need stovl type aircraft to operate off our new 'big'
carriers? Does'nt all the extra gubbins just make it heavier, thirstier,
more complex, expensive, delicate etc.?
I think you are right. If a country is going to be in the 'carrier battle group' extendable naval power club, as it were, then they really have to do it properly to be credible, otherwise its just posturing and an expensive and possibly even dangerous waste of time and money (nb a nuclear deterrent even more so!)What you say about EU influence is interesting. This organisation can't even agree on collective action over the Pasteurisation of milk or the shape of bananas, how are they going to co-ordinate the fighting of a war? And anyway, I for one and I hope many others will be voting to leave the EU when (and if) I get the chance, so we may well have to re-think all this soon anyway.
Of course it's stupid but the plan is to shrink the Royal navy so we can be a small component in an EU armed forces unable to go it alone without the other countries.Since other EU countries are supposed to be buying the F-35 the government probably doesn't mind if other Navies supply the air wing. Now it seems the USMC will be using this carriers years before Britain. Also because of the massive cutbacks the navy is now saying they don't have enough personnel to man the ship.So the whole things been a disaster and a total waste of money. The government would have been better off keeping the Harriers and 3 small carriers we used to have!
+lonelycyclist No room to retro-fit steam-cat equipment in the QE class I read, but that seems pretty stupid, building the carriers before you've decided what you are going to fly off them!
+SequelFinalNight A good point and I am a Brit. As I understand it, the Harrier was intended to be able to deploy from forward positions in wood and off roads after airstrips had been lost to enemy action in a European war situation with the then Warsaw Pact. Navalising it to fly off small escort carriers was an afterthought to allow our navy to retain some kind of a carrier group capability after spending cuts meant that the last of their old 'big' carriers were not going to be replaced. It was a compromise and far from ideal, though they did make a suprisingly good job during the Falkland Islands conflict with Argentina. As I understand it, the USMC wanted Harriers so they could have their own in-house fast jet capability, and now they've got used to having it, don't want to go back to having to rely on another service for air support etc? Hence the STOVL F35. Even the Royal Navy has deep doubts about it and at one time wanted to change its order to the conventional take off version but then changed their minds back again because they could not get the new catapult launching system to work.
Britain is only spending $500,000,000,000 on these near to be archaic
fighters. How will that help the US government deplete its trillions
dollars debt to the weapons increasing Chinese. Oh that's right were
talking about the infinite unseen expenditures that government wormholers
spend money on besides settling the national debt. Well they did borrow
from China which should have rang clearly in everyones ears that the US
government has lost its mind. The question is now where do you send whole
governments to when they are psychologically sick. Okay I will volunteer to
help for a 20 figure stipend. Don't misconstrued what 20 figures means. In
fact I'll need the country and all territories at my peck and yawn.
f35 is bulky, clumsy, slow, un-aerodynamic and
overpriced.................I'd rather go for a modified stealth f15 with a
built in f35 radar inside the f15....
+RobertsDigital the f35 is not bulky, its way smaller than the f22 and the mission of this plane is to be stealth, so in order to obtain stealth some things has to be done like, the smaller the better, this plane is stupid small compared to 4gen fighters or about 99% of them, thus being stealth it doesnt need to maneuver like the f22, su35, whatever. it engages at beyond bvr range, its stealth so it uses it to its advantage, you see, a sniper never fought a cqb, because its stealthy and has a bvr sniper rifle. so the f35 would be a synonym of a sniper. not to mention that dod is planning on adding drones to be controlled by the f35, so thats some serious firepower or a different approach to current tactics or fighting style if you ask me. we can never say its impossible cuz of r&d, but dont be surprised if in a near future missiles will be something about the past and completely replaced by railguns, coilguns, "electric powered guns". is a diy thing already, i'm sure the military can come up with something nifty. just saying.
+Ihave Topis They are not dishing out millions of dollars/ Pounds for a high Mach #. It's the stealth technology and super computers that integrate the battle space. The Mach # and turning radius are humble, but the tech is state of the art. Remember the goal was a cheaper stealth multi role fighter. Other countries simply can't afford to equip their militaries with the F22, not to mention the raptor was not available for export. War won't be fought like Top Gun.

+Ihave Topis I bet if you were to fit an internal and also external payload I bet it will begin to suffer it has a low speed mach 1.6 imagine what that will go down by, I bet f16 or f15 goes faster than mach 1.2 probably more like 1.6.Also just two missiles in the internal Bay along with two heatseaking isn't enough internally.
+RobertsDigital The F-35's maximum mach number was achieved with a full internal fuel and payload. If you hang that weight outside an F-16 or an F-18's wings they will only reach mach 1.2.
People reading this thread need to understand the Russians have a full time
staff of people paid to write pro-Russian and anti-American comments on
popular websites like this. It's called Disinformation Warfare. They
gravitate to videos on the F-22, the F-35 and carriers because they fear
them and want them de-funded. Many of the anti-American channels on YouTube
are fronts for Russian Disinformation professionals.
The Russian Disinformation Corps work as teams and take on assumed names to
make it appear they are different random people from different places. They
upvote each other's comments, engage in pretend discussions that conclude
the Russian Su-XX is the best, etc. It's a pretty sophisticated operation
until you see the pattern, then it's easy to spot. The patter always goes
like this: The F-35 costs a trillion dollars, melts in the rain, is slower
than a kite and will be shot down by far superior Russian planes.
Simon Watts below is a good example. Completely empty YouTube profile but
shows up here to hammer the F-35. In short, an account created just for the
purpose of disinformation and the spreading of lies about the F-35.
Examples:
"A lot of it's clever gizmos still don't work and anyway.."
What the hell is that even supposed to mean?
"For instance, the cameras mounted all over the plane to give the pilot a
360 degree view through his helmet sight have far less resolution than that
of an iphone 3!"
Really? I didn't know the iPhone3 had an infrared camera. Much less one
rated for high shock & vibration, extreme temperatures and high speed data
transfer. News to you since you have no idea what you're talking about here.
"It's THE most expensive military programme in history when it was supposed
to be cheap."
It was never supposed to be "cheap". The expensive planes are in low rate
initial production (LRIP), which it's in now. The aircraft is tracking to
be on price target in full production. All aircraft follow that curve.
As for being the most expensive program, it's only because it's cost is
measured over fifty years, which has never been done to another program.
Any spending over that time-frame sounds absurd.
Anyway, it's always best to look at sources from people who know what the
hell they're talking about. Aerospace sources, test pilot comments, and
especially watch what governments actually buy. Governments have teams of
experienced professionals evaluating these planes. And they have to pay for
them, maintain them and defend themselves with them. So that's a very good
guide to capability. That said, in addition to the US military, there are a
dozen countries lined up to buy the F-35. The means the professional
militaries of those chose this aircraft over everything else available.
That should tell you something.
Good book:
Disinformation: Former Spy Chief Reveals Secret Strategies for Undermining
Freedom, Attacking Religion, and Promoting Terrorism
by Ronald Rychlak & Lt. Gen. Ion Mihai Pacepa who served as acting chief of
communist Romania's espionage service and top adviser to President Nicolae
Ceausescu. Lots of articles out there on the subject of Russian
disinformation too.
+StereoSpace Did George #41 approve your message. That old coot now has full blown dementia and craps in his Depends every day. God is punishing him for his war crimes. Richard Chain Saw Chainey also lost control of his bowels and wears Depends as does the former head of JSOC.
+Roger Clemons: Under kosher sounding names? Your cultural antisemitism and absurd lies reveal you as one of Putin's paid anti-American, anti-NATO, Russian propagandists. Pour another shot of vodka and toast your great dictator, Ivan. At least you're not working for a beet ration in the traktor faktori, eh?
+StereoSpace I'm sure you are right about the cyber-warriors, but I'm just an interested and concerned citizen and don't see why the fact of Russian on-line bullshit should invalidate genuine worries about the capabilities of this aircraft. For instance, since the 80's the US has had this big thing about 'stealth' and have sunk obscene amounts of money into developing these 'invisible' assets, yet I have widely read that new generations of radar can 'see' stealthy aircraft anyway. So if you are sacrificing performance on the alter of a technology that does not work anyway that is potentially a big problem. The Russians are going ahead with the development of their (already excellent) non-stealthy types like the new Sukhois etc and seem not to be that bothered about stealthy types, they're not stupid so do they know something we don't? We've put all our eggs in one basket and with Putin strutting about like a latter-day Mussolini its a legitimate worry.
+StereoSpace Pentagon employs 75,000- 95,000 in the office of psy-ops and dis info, under kosher sounding names. That has been published in many articles. The truth is the F-35 was built to satisfy demands of many services and as a result it is a fighter, bomber, attack jet that does many things , but relative to the adversary, it is a flying pig. That is why dozens of nations who signed letters of intent to buy 100 or 50 of the planes, have all backed out or cut the orders to 2 planes.I guess they want some eye candy for their air shows. The F-35 will be the darling of air shows around the world, but never see actual combat. They still need to correct up to 1500 flaws in the plane and this is 13 years after the design was finalized. This program is far and away the biggest boondoggle in military procurement, with at least $1 trillion down the rabbit hole of waste. Lockheed Martin is now run by……………. a woman. I wonder if Carly Fiorina knows her.
+StereoSpace Oh, so everything the U.S. government said about the bombing of the hospital in Afghanistan was true? They changed their story about four times before finally admitting they were at fault. The U.S. also has a long, long history of lies and misinformation. I remember the cold war and Vietnam war very clearly. BOTH SIDES spewed lies and disinformation for years during those decades. The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was a pack of lies that cost millions of lives on both sides in Southeast Asia. You`re not talking to a 16 year old.
I can be sure of no such thing. The Russians have a long, long history of lies and misinformation. In the USSR, more people were involved in the dissemination of disinformation than were in the armed services. Under Putin, Disinformatzya is front and center again.Canada may choose whatever aircraft they desire. The professional air forces of a dozen countries have decided this is the technology they want. If Canadians decide they want a previous generation of technology and that is sufficient, that is their business.
+StereoSpace On the other hand, you can be sure the U.S. also has professional staff to write pro F-35 statements as well. Canadians go to the polls on Oct.19th. I hope we have a change of government and the F-35 is canceled or at least a fair competition is held to select a new aircraft for Canada`s air force. Which is not what our present government has done. Too many bad stories coming from the U.S. General Accounting Office and other sources that I trust more than Lockheed Martin.
