Very nice guide! Nice way to check if a car is all original!
Will you ever make non rust related buyers guide? I know that rust is a
major problem in the UK, but in several other countries it is not. A buyers
guide that teaches how to assess the body of an MX5 would be great!
This is not a video how to spot a good car from bad car. This is video how
to spot a collectible factory car from normally used car. To be fair, how
many mx5 out there are in that condition like red one? Like 1%? Or even
less? And how much they cost? Yeah, much much more (at least outside of
UK). Sills are totally common weak spot of mx5. Repaired sills =/= bad car!
Try running the red car in the winter and rain, and try to not clean your
drain holes. And then spot the difference
+TheOklep hi, thank you for your comments, Just for the record, the red car was a well used eunos roadster, importd to the uk around 1998 if memory serves me correctly, not garaged and in daily use, we had it for sale on our website for £3000.MX5s can be repaired correctly, I do it every day, they can also be repaired extremely badly, like the way the silver car had been repaired.I agree, the red car is a very good example, but they are out there, this video has been greated to help people spot the details that are noticeable on an original car and what to look out for on a badly repaired car, hopefully they will be able to take that knowledge and use it when looking at buying a car, and hopefully find something that falls somewhere in the middle, and if they are lucky find one like the red car.
wow.. this is an amzing vid... i absolutly love it :D great info and help
:D i've subscribed and i hope you will make many vids like this :D i've
also shared it in my mx5 clup for anyone who considers buying one because
this was a great video
+Lights go up Lights go down Hi again :P since i saw this video i checked over my car :) on the right hand side my rear quarter/sill has that ''filler flare'' shape to it... i've also checked underneath and it looks to be good with no signs of rust there... and it just has a spot of rust... (surface) around what looks like a rubber plug inside the arch (poked it with a screwdriver and it did not go thru)... would you recomend to sand that quarter down to see how the repair was done or just do something about that surface rust spot and leave it? it has no signs of rust like bubbles or anything like that on the sill or quarter... i feel abit scared because i feel like the repair was just done with filler as it has that flare to it... if you say it would be smart to sand it down and check i'll do it.. and if i find rust i will continue to use it in the summer as my learner car and when i get my licence (1,5 years) i'll roadtrip from norway to you guys and have it brought back to 100% rustfree condition... i really love this car... it's my first car ever, i saved up money for 4 years to buy a mx5 and i want to keep it on the road until the world runs out of oil for petrol...
Evening, great video and exactly what I'm after. Hoping to finally pick up
a mk1 in approx 3 months. can you recommend a trader that imports rust free
examples? I've been to see 9 to date all described as mint and all turned
out to be rot boxes.
+Glen Dunn we do, but we are based in East Sussex, so couldn't be further away really, the website is www.themx5restorer.co.ukThere is a red car on the website, but that has sold, the other two we have are not on there yet because they aren't ready yet really
+Glen Dunn hi glen,We don't import them, but we do get hold of good cars, we currently have a couple in stock, both need a little work though, where are you based?
Mazda MX 5 used buying guide **Faulty Sound**
Used buying guide for the Mazda MX-5. Faulty sound.
In this video we cover our top three brake pad choices for the third generation Mazda MX-5! The pads in the video can be found with the links below. Porterfield ...
+Marcus Hui Hey Marcus, the HPS is very comparable to the R4-S. The HP+ is still an aggressive street pad like the HPS but the Hawk HP+ offers slightly more temperature capacity and a little more friction.
+The Shadow Broker He became one of the hosts of the original Top Gear back in 1999 and remained, I think, until the show ended in '01, to return in 2003, as you say, with the new format.
