Have you ever tried in using mechanical garden tap timers? I've have a few that have been made up as panning devices. I find that the metal gears and springs are more robust that the usual kitchen timers. Presently, I'm hacking one up into a panning device.

+B. Ramsden First, thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching.I have a 2 hour irrigation timer mod but could not simplify it to the point that most people would want to try.Still thinking on it, but yes they are great. At some point I will make my irrigation GoLapse DIY video ..... some day.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Well mate! I'll show you how to do it. Most mechanical garden tap timers have a screw on base. Remove the screws and the base. Now, the demolition part. Place the bottom portion of the timer in a vice, and slowly squeeze the life out of it. The top portion has the gears and the main spring. So, you don't want to put that part in the vice. When the bottom becomes distorted from the top pull apart both the bottom and top. A little grunt is required. Once both parts are removed, throw away the bottom portion. The top will have a plastic stem. Cut that off. Drill a hole very carefully and slowly in the centre of the bottom and screw in the 3/8 to 1/4 inch Convert Screw Adapter. A lot of tap timers will have a flat top, so you can put the usual Go Pro adhesive mount. As for me, I don't own a Go Pro, as I use another time lapse brand. I just drill a hole in the top, and screw and glue a 1/4 20 in grub screw. That's it!SeeyaPS love your vids!

thank you for the response and yes i'm looking for a slider right now and after i have that i will see for panning units but now i can use ur tip thank you it was a awesome video and it works fine for me
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-LggdwL0OXfo/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABE/1CiomBJi-zA/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Rédouan Kingfx To pan right you can invert the timer(flip upside down), or open the timer and flip the spring but I have no idea how to do that. It is a cheap tool, don't expect it to do everything. There are some battery driven panning units that are completely adjustable, but they cost $100

try to find aluminum instead of galvanized steel. You have to presmoke the smoker to get a good coating of carbon on the inside of the smoker. Never use plywood or anything with glue in it for a smoker. A friend of mine made one with plywood and gave me a taste of his fish. Yuk... Tasted like burnt glue. I spit it out fast. I use the little chef smoker , commercial smoker. Has 3 racks about 3 square feet of area to smoke on. Uses a 4 inch pan of wood chips on a hot plate for smoke

@scalawaggywakyman garbage cans are typically galvanized, the galvanizing process is typically used for any type of metal that'll touch liquid pr water. Your run of the mill sheet metal is NOT galvanized. The best suggestion I have for making a smoker is to find one of those old vertical ice boxes with the latch handle, and put a controllable heating element in the bottom and cut you a hole on top. You can find them on clist on the cheap usually-happy smokin'!

For how long did you smoke it.. You did not tell os about the temperture inside..! I know that I Can find these information somplace else, but it would be nice to round it up with som more hints on how to do it .. " take it all the way" so to speak.. But the idear was brilliant.. I'm not from the States , so I dont get electricety thrown at mé for allmost free.. Can you do it with wood or anything else?? If so, how..? But thanks for the tips anyway!!

Re: zinc coating. When I was researching DIY bike frame building, I read about the dangers of zinc oxide fumes. But they were talking about fumes released during arc welding. Hopefully the zinc coated containers would not reach a high enough temperature from mere exposure to hot smoke, or even direct contact with hot charcoal to release zinc oxide fumes. Perhaps an expert in the field can chime in?
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-BYnPPPTxtNY/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/OyuCsekrkOY/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
we have another smoker show on our youtube channel, where we make a cardboard box into a smoker, and that show has most of the cooking temp info you need. you could put a metal pan of charcoal in the bottom of this DIY smoker along with the wet wood chips, you may have to add charcoal during the smoking process. let me know any more questions, thanks for watching, please consider subscribing, eric.

I'm an American Welding Society Certified Welder and Zn in that form is really toxic to humans, although you "burned" it off, metal is still a porous substance and can still contain the elemental chemical. I've heard of people getting really sick from homemade smokers that contain chemicals like Sulfur and other petro chemicals. Be careful buddy.
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-bR4g4gZF9o0/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/UtDBZrvtEeY/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
That galvanizing is nasty sh!t, you really need to avoid it. This was a good idea beside that though. Try doubling up some nuts on the end of the grate bolts to keep it from sliding off, you could even sandwich a washer in between the nuts to make sure it stays put.
https://gp5.googleusercontent.com/-INuGDXztbx8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/31qvzXwSVt4/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
To keep the grill from slipping off the carriage bolts, you might consider bolting washers on them near their tips. That way when the grill is plopped on the carriage bolts, they'll be prevented from slipping off their ends. What do you think?
https://gp6.googleusercontent.com/-LFjunWpazwY/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/BcG5hghNw9o/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Nice ideal except for the galvanized metal. But question did that little hot plate and that iron skillett get hot enough to actually cook that fish done.I know it musta been done you were eating it.but its hard to believe it cooked that well?
https://gp3.googleusercontent.com/-setvOX8X-sQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/MNWPnLdwBM4/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
THIS IS POISON!!!!!! DON"T DO THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TO DIE!!!! Galvinized metal is coted with a zync compound that is very toxic. Use steel, stainless steel, terra cota or a cardboard box. Just don't use this stuff.
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-YLR2XN0mEE8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/CYQxdvp6yeQ/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
Do not use this. Galvanised metal at this temp. releases gas that binds itself into the meat and causes poisoning or death. Please remove this video you can cause other people's death....
https://gp4.googleusercontent.com/-BYnPPPTxtNY/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/OyuCsekrkOY/s48-c-k-no/photo.jpg?sz=64
you can get them at roofing supply places and farm supply catalogs. farmers use them to kill weeds in the field. be careful with it. it hooks up to a regular propane tank.

@xtxxxnx are garbage cans also galvanized? I'd like to know if I could use it to make a smoker. And what about typical sheet metal..? Are they mostly gavalnized?

Ikea Besta/Framsta - Wall Mount Entertainment Center Assembly Part 2

There will be a gap from the top of the cabinet to the ceiling. If that is not a problem you should consider Measuring the back side of both cabinets stacked and then leave about one inch to a gap from the top cabinet to the ceiling. Than mount the bottom first and then the top last. Measuring and finding the studs in the wall are very important in this task. If you have the wall mounting kit that is sold separately from the cabinet. You will have instructions there on how to mount it.
