+bekovski cimbom Yeah, but wouldn't I call a network of networks a network? I am quite a newbie but still I think that if I am using a generalized term network then a network of networks in after all a network. But yeah I cant call it a WAN
+bekovski cimbom Internet a global computer network providing a variety of information and communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using standardized communication protocols. So it is a Newtork.
+ELITExTACONo, it's not a WAN. What I've said above isn't quite correct either. I should have said "it's not a network in the sense you put it to be".The internet is an internetwork (or internet, but in the more generic sense), that is, it's a network of networks.
+bekovski cimbom Yes, the internet is a Wide Area Network(WAN)

It's not this simple at all. There are many steps required to set up the
router with your ISP that are skipped and these steps are the hard part.
Yeah, just don't even acknowledge what you don't know and mislead others. *

So the difference between a host and a server is: a server allows more than
one person to access the data at the same time, whereas a host only one
person can access the data? Why do people say web hosts then, shouldn't it
be web server otherwise not more than one person would be able to visit a
website correct? If someone could explain that please. Something doesn't
seem correct here.
About client and host: What bucky said is only true in context. On a
network a host is any computer that can recieve or send data. Client is a
therm used when say you have a computer that's supposed to send something,
like a server. Then that server sends the data to a client. Just be aware
that these two words are very context sensitive.
hey can you show me how to connect these thing like do a map what to
connect to what and what else do i need i have a server. 4 computer 3
laptop 1 8 port switch i router couple straight cable 2cross cable isp
modem how to connect these you can contact me at [email protected]
please and thanks
First of i would like to agree with JACENZ, this is a really good tutorial
fir beginners! I would just like to add that NIC's are mostly used for high
end servers and workstations these days, because most Motherboards are
already equipped with an on board NIC.
Thenewboston, good videos but make sure your information is 100% correct
first. If you are a beginner to networking, your best is to buy a CCNA
book. Thenewboston knows a little about networking (very broad) but his
examples are not 100% accurate.
wow im learning a lot from you.. Thanks dude.. Im a college undergraduate
and its hard to find a job here in our country but having knowledge on
computers could give me some money to buy some basic needs.. thanks again..
GOD BLESS YOU!!
I'm in the middle of a career change too...taking Computer Networking and
this tutorial is great. Clear things up for me so much, this is better than
reading the books which can be more confusing. Thanks keep up the good
work!!!!
A server is a computer optimized to be accessed by multiple computers at
once... So, a computer access another computer the same way. That is the
best way I can explain it without going into HTT protocol and everything
Guys, this is for Protecting children online. Your opinion is very
important to me... Need your feedback on this video and on my website

I have Windows Server 2008 installed on machine, on the same machine I have
installed Virtual Sever and installed Windows Server Stadard 64 bit, How
can I network them communicate with each other?
The power of someone actually trying to explain a subject instead of just
throwing a highly technical manual at you and saying 'see you in a
month'... Is not to be under-estimated.
I have a question regarding server. on 2:50 it was pointed out that files
can be accessed from a computer to the server, however can a computer
access files from another computer?
@billysbobs999 the server is giving the information so yes the server is a
host but remember you need a nic card to connet to a network to get
information on the server
is there any difference between a mac server, linux server or windows
server.which is the most powerful server and which would be a better for a
beginner .
My teacher used a lot of your video's in class xD It helped a lot of the
'slower' people in the class which you seem to be able to explain to them
well.
Thanks for posting these tutorials! They are very straight-forward and easy
to understand for a new comp sci student like me.

Its not that he knows a lot... The thing that makes him stand out from
everyone else is that he knows how to teach... Lots of people know what he
knows plus more, but not many people can teach this stuff as well as this
guy can!
This is a very clear explanation dude.. If i knew this kind of tutorial is
available in youtbue...wud not wasted my savings money in institute that
till now can figure it out what was the idiot teacher taught in the class.
I laughed for a good while during the Mesh topology ghaah;) I would like to
say that even if this stuff is old, it does come in handy. I mean schools
are still teaching stuff like this, so this would help a lot:) Thanks!
Wow Boston. Some of this stuff is really old. Cisco doesn't teach about the
first two at all. Probably because it's not used anymore because of how
cheap switches and hubs are nowdays.
the ring topology is wrong, the reciever is not the one who absorbs the
data, is the same sender that once it reaches him after the entire ring is
the one who takes it out of the bus.
that awkward moment when you try to search the image for "terminator" at
google... and you forgot to specify what you're trying to search and you've
been given wrong images....
ive been watching all your networking tutorial and helps me a lot, and i
write down all the mportant terms you used even you sketch i draw it laso
same as you draw lol!

@Omatunto every word has its own frequency, let say if u say MOM, then M
has its own frequency & O has its own, so when u say Hei Mom, then every
word has its own frequency and on receiver side there is a filter which
receives the signal and matches it, same as that routing table, in short
for logic, u can feed this in mind through this example that there is a
table in which all frequency's values has been put, so when ever receiver
side receives any word, it will compare it from that table :)
Suplement: Send data node >> node. Its transmitting in dig or ana. Digital.
Digit. Binary. Only 0's and 1's. If you want to send an analog signal
(exam. [shortcut] microphone >> file) it have to be quantized. ADC(ana dig
converter) and DAC(dig ana converter).
Shannon-Kotielnikow-Whittaker-Nyquist law. Check Quantization on wiki. Same
about wireless. Signal from smartphone or by wifi: device(dig) >(ana)> BTS
or Access Point >(dig/ana)> server(dig).
You are wrong in so many levels, radio is not analog (see DRM), fiber optic
doesn't have to be digital (You can send different intensities of light)
you are confusing people, in one hand we have physical cables, radio-waves,
microwaves... (The physical stuff used to transfer information from A to B)
in the other one you have how you use that physical stuff (by sending an
analog or digital signal)
Physically, there is an electrical, modulated signal that is being passed
through the wires and converted by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) so
that the computer can interpret this data in ones and zeroes. So basically
you have converters on both ends (receiving end - ADC and sending end -
DAC). Actual transmission in physical layer through wires is in an analogue
form.
Coaxial Cable work>>the signals are going to be transmitted through the
"Copper Core", these signals do not move in a straight line because of the
bends of the cable then the "Woven Copper Shield" turn comes in to reverse
the signal to the "Copper Core". So continuously, the signal is going to
lose energy on every reverse..Is this this Correct or not?!
ihave a zte modem plz tell me how i share my broadband with other pc
there's a simply way to connect a hub and plug that's do ok but i dont want
it i want that i gave a person an ip address then he access to net cuz and
i dout that that person gave another one how do i do it.that can only
person that i want to access a net plz plz plz tell me >>>
how information/data is encoded? when I say 'Mom' via Skype, how those
sounds waves coming from my mouth become electrical signals, then digital
signals (bits or zeros and ones) and then again electrical signals and
sound waves, reaching my mom's ear at the other end of the world? HOW ???
the technologically challenged association (me) proudly presents to you
the Awesome Guy of the year award. Your videos are like finding a pair of
inflatable arm floaties in an ocean of "wtf did that dude/chick say?"
videos… I think I love you… Nerds are strait out sexy.
Dude okay Im not trying to be mean or anything but this was funny as hell.
We were watching this in my networking class and we were laughing our asses
off by a few things. The grid thing was our fav. part. We have an inside
joke now "bring up the grid". lol thanks man.
I have such mixed feelings about this video series. This dude posesses the
vocabulary of an eight year-old and slurs his speech like he just downed an
entire bottle of wine...yet, he actually knows his stuff, and does a decent
job in teaching it.
I never knew Bucky is into networking as well , i didnt read the name of
the chancel but from the first word i heard i knew it was him i was like
WTF Bucky is here as well ? i know his voice bcoz i watched over 50 videos
of his on C++
Actually its more complicated than that because there are several encoding
mechanisms used, for example in fiber its not just the pulsing on/off, but
actually varying intensities of light, and i gigabit ethernet its varying
voltage.
plz tell me, i have my laptop connected to a router...explain me how the
router is connected, how I know which topology it is, how it is LAN and how
I know its WAN plz expain me, because i have exam and i am unable to
understand. plz
This guy is brilliant. I can actually understand whats going on. he
explains alot more thorough rather than basic explanations that get me
confused as it is in school. Thanks again mate :)
I can't believe it!! I wanted to know how fiber optics worked for the past
month and you finally gave me the answer I was looking for. Simple and to
the point....love it!
u know, lecturers shud get a lesson or two from video like these on how to
present their lectures. I learnt so much more from these vids than my 1 sem
of lectures...
I switched to computer course because i'm tire of hearing anal in nursing
school. I didn't realize that there's also anal in computer, LOL! great job
though!! :D
Where did you learn your stuff? Im interested in going to school for
computer networking and was just wondering if you had any good places for
me to apply to.
One important thing is that each "piece" of data is sent by a collective of
8 one's and zero's and it's called a byte. Quite big thing to leave out
there huh?
I enjoy this guys online tutorials more than my professors. Probably
because this guy has the same maturity level as I do lol. Anal.... hahaha.

Well, it is regrettable to say that i am from one the poorest country in
Africa, precisely Liberia. therefore i am actually behind time in the
technologies world, i will appreciate anyone who will always throw light on
any computer related articles to me clearly. CUZ I DON'T NO MUCH OF HOW
COMPUTER WORKS.
your teacher is dumb i know guys who never went to college and became
experts at networking and they are not that good at any math either they
self tuaght so dont let any teacher discourage you from trying somthing
sooner you start the better dont let em convince you to wait
i tried going to his site i dont get his email where is it at? and i need
help i want to take the certification test thing and i wnat to know what
should i know and what should i be studying on :( this so furstrating
You no something? I LOVE computer, this is why i choose it to be my career

Hello there, Anyone discovered the Advance Cash Profits? (do a Google
Search) Ive heard lots of incredible stuff about it and my sis made a great
amount of money with it!
Seriously, its kind of sad how the richest country in the world (or at
least used to be 20 yrs. ago) has kids that don't know anything more
complex than a stupid iPhone.
