@Jeff2207xx What happens when you type "ipconfig /all"? This should show your MAC addresses buried in with a lot of other information. The "getmac" command just makes for something more user-friendly and readable.

Yes. Sounds like c:\Windows\system32 is not in your path. You can either add it or just type this instead: c:\Windows\system32\getmac etc. etc.

I get an error saying 'getmac' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Any ideas?

I get the same message, I guess it's probably something to do with PATH command?

after typing getmac -v -fo list, nothing appeared.. what should i do??

I recently became interested in learning more about networking and came about some text that covered MAC addresses. A tutorial video I saw elsewhere seemed aimed at providing hackers the information, which amuses me because I seem to think if a black hat needs video instruction of this then I question their abilities. My hope was to use this as an extra layer of security to my own computer or will it not contribute to the safety of my system, do these resolve to indicate a geo location ???????

You are correct that any black hat, gray hat or white hat knows all about MAC addresses. I actually made this video for a security class and we learned that mac address manipulation does not really provide much extra security. It keeps your actual Mac out of someones else's server log, but your IP address is what can be used for geo location.

Ive done everything as shown, but the MAC adress i used to spoof dosent change my default adress not one bit. My wifi does seem to reset, but when i check the changes in the command window, its stays as the default adress. Its really sucks because no method i use to try change my wireless MAC NEVER works.

followed all steps and once i click add it says "Unable to verify the printer on your network. Unable to connect to '192.188.1.74' due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?" When i click continue it shows the printer with a green light, but once i try to print a test page the light turns yellow and says not connected HELP :(

the tip of vnitto was helpful.The only step you need to do on windows is: On the Windows 7 PC 1. In Windows 7 Control Panel 2. Select "Programs and Features" panel 3. Click "Turn Windows Features on or off" 4. Turn on the LPD protocol. 5. Ensure printer(s) are shared So make sure that LPD protocol is ON.

Was very useful. It added the printer and in the last step of testing a print page it did not work. My printer is attached to my pc through the wireless network and not directly. Would that make a difference

the message i get is "Theres a problem communicating with the printer " and nothing happens... i have the printer on my windows vista pc then im printing form the mac.. any sugg???

its still not getting added.Its hp laser 3030 connected to a windows system but the windows system is connected on a wireless network through a router.
