Does this thing ACTUALLY exist? The article from PC Pro titled "The Truth
Behind the Million Dollar Laptop" states they were able to get ahold of
Luvaglio's CEO (who I see is the name of this channel, so maybe this will
get him talking) via phone, and he said they were "limiting what they're
saying at this time" and that they were "exceptionally busy", but were
"taking orders". They also tracked down Luvaglio's HQ, which is in a tiny
office in an upscale neighborhood of London (but no one was there when they
tried to pay a visit).
Well it's been nearly 8 years since that article was written, and since
then there's been hardly any news on the laptop or even the company, and
much less any news that a working model has been revealed, demonstrated
(I'd especially like to see how that "self-cleaning screen" works), and
sold. Even the Wikipedia article on Luvaglio specifically states there's no
evidence Luvaglio has actually produced a physical product. The only
remaining evidence the company even exists is its website, which aside from
links (all of which are broken) to a Blog, Portfolio, Contact info, along
with 2 completely random, irrelevant links to some design website, a link
to this video and 3 others, and pictures of the different finishes
supposedly available for the laptop, is completely password-protected. Not
to mention the copyright date on the website hasn't changed since 2012.
So what's going on? Why has Luvaglio gone completely silent? If the laptop
does exist and has been sold, has Luvaglio tried to make it so over-the-top
exclusive that it's for their customer's eyes only, and their owners are
held to a contract that prevents them from showing it off to the press? Or
was none of Luvaglio's invitees willing to shell out a million dollars for
a laptop, therefore meaning the company has flopped, and the company is too
embarrassed to admit they've failed? Or, given how secretive the company is
with it's password-protected website and broken links, could it actually be
an elaborate front for a drug trafficking outfit or some other illegal
operation? Either way, I'd say for a company that's supposedly as
prestigious and great as Luvaglio claims to be, I'd imagine they'd at least
have a professional-looking website with links that aren't broken and don't
link to other irrelevant websites. As of now, the company looks like a
complete hoax.
