I was introduced to this song and others of Tom Chapin's when my first son
was months old. Through most of his and his younger brother's early toddler
years I would sing it for them, play it for them and had the most fun
dancing with them to the song. The idea of generation to generation moves
me and I hope I have helped instill this in them with Tom Chapin's
wonderful song.
@misskzzy I remember this song as well, I remember I had to sing this song
too when I was in 2nd Grade! Heck my music teacher went further, having us
sing not only this one but Together Tomorrow as well as Picnic of the World.
durring an assembly at school we would sing and this was one of the songs
we always sang. when it says my great great grandaddy reaching up to me,
that aways reminded me of my grandpa in heaven looking down on me
I use to love listening to this song When I was 4 years old I use to have a
Tape I always like to Sing A long with this song and to sing A long with
other Songs it was on The Tape Use to own
