Ivan Sutherland : Sketchpad Demo (1/2)
This video is a TV show made about the software Ivan Sutherland developed in his 1963 thesis at MIT's Lincoln Labs, "Sketchpad, A Man-Machine Graphical ...
Wow! I am amazed because of the incredible innovation here, and the
software written with limited memory and computing power is pure genius!
Anyone knows what machine language for what processor Sutherland wrote his
sketchpad software?
+unebonnevie This was programmed on a TX-2: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TX-2I can't find any examples of what the assembly language for that looked like, but here's some code on the PDP-1 (for one of the first video games!), another computer used at MIT around the same time:https://gist.github.com/JonnieCache/4258114
Man, I love this guy. The way he talks about a paint program makes you feel
like he made contact with a strange and wonderful alien race and he's
preparing you to visit their planet and meet them. We've conquered the
surface of computer space and it's no where near as mind-blowing as he
thinks it will be. Maybe when we dig a little deeper we'll unlock some
magic...
+ungratefulmetalpansy Still, it's worth noting that we've come very far in a short time. LGBT and women's rights in the past decade, for instance! The Internet has also made it easier for people to form friendships across oceans, which in turn has helped people in developing countries find better job opportunities, and those under oppressive regimes to get word out of what's happening.
+gingersleep The big problem with the naive enthusiasm people had in the 1960s is that only very smart people had contact with computers back then. These people thought that every other human being on the planet is and will be just like them. They talked about "augmenting" the human intellect to solve all kinds of problems. They forgot that all this technology will "augment" every other human trait as well.
+Nebuchadnezzaurus I always wonder about that when watching stuff from the 1960s, as well as how skinny everyone was. I guess both are because everyone smoked two packs a day back then.
Ellisimo - Digitizing with the Ellisimo On Screen Designer and Sketch Pad
In this video I show you how to use that sketchpad that came with your Ellisimo Gold Embroidery Machine to digitize a design. I walk you through the steps of ...
Is there anyway to use the on screen designer to draw a stippling design
for a quilt? I don't want to have a satin stitch - want to have a running
stitch. It doesn't look like there's a way to do that but thought I would
ask the expert. Thanks
I've watched your video on the tablet. I was able to draw my design, save
it and retrieve it. Now what? Do you have to pick the stitches to use; i.e.
satin stitch etc? What is the next step to using your design so the
machine will embroider it?
+Stella Volmer When I tried to do this is gave me an error message. Don't remember the exact wording but it was saying the image wasn't loaded. I could not find it in memory and I did not see where you could pick the USB drive. maybe I need a lesson on how to take load a design on a USB and download it to the sewing machine. ?????
+Stella Volmer you exit the on screen designer program, and sew it out like any other design. The stitches are already set. If you saved it to the memory pocket, thats where you open it in the embroidery mode, or if you saved it to the usb stick you open it from there.
Hi Brad, i just got this machine and your videos are haven send for me. I
have a doubt, can i design appliques with the sketch pad? Or i would
definitely need to buy a software for it? (Which i can't do for a
whilesince the machine was so expensive. Is there a way to do applique with
the embroidery patterns itself?
Brad you make learning fun and easy I just a one question . Why is it that
when I draw out my design on the tablet it is Never the same size as I
drew? And How do I fix this? I have the Baby Lock Ellisimo Gold 2
thank-you
its not the same size because the screen size is not 1:1 scale to the pad. You can resize your design before you sew it out on the editing screen though.
Sketchpad Card Rise (MUST SEE)
This is my favorite effect to perform in my stand up shows because it is something that my audience remembers for a very long time! This effect was created by ...
Pete, good job, but you need to spend more time on the drawing making it
more neat, straight, and identical to the one that is handed out. This
performance oh could easily see the difference. When the card was rising
out, it was more neatly drawn, and therefore, it looked weird with a poorly
drawn ace of spades and unrealistic non straight 3d entire deck.
You can learn how to make it yourself from Martin Lewis' "Magic Magic Vol.1" or you can buy the premade version called "Signature Rising Card from Sketchpad". Hope that helps!

@gotbletu Hey man, great videos, I just wanted to ask you why it's so laggy
when i watch 720p videos in full screen. I have a pretty decent system
tho...Athlon II X4 and Amd HD 6850. And uhm, how do you make the little
blue magic effect on the mouse pointer ? Thank you very much.
@MrShoy No, the video is loaded but it laggs. In windows 7 there was no
fucking lagg at all, even at 1080p. So its something with Kubuntu, in
Ubuntu it was worse..
No way I would be able to draw like you ! I've tried to draw like you and other artists but I haven't been successful... Also I don't have my own manga style... Could you give me any tips for drawing ? Hugs Back
