The steering tie rods are supposed to move like this. That is what allows the steering to articulate with the suspension. However there should be no lateral play in the rod end. Grab the wheel or rotor when it is on the car and only that side is off the ground. The jacked wheel should not be able to move independently of the suspension. If it does, then that tie rod is shot. They should be replaced in pairs and then brought immediately to the alignment shop...best $75 bucks you can spend.

thats not the way to tell if its shot! what you need to do is use some channel lock pleirs and bite down from the bottom of the bolt to the top of the tie rod if there is play then its shot

It's supposed to move that way moron it's a ball joint. If there is play in it *the other way* then yes, replace it. From here the boot looks good and seems stiff enough.

it's s upposed to do that. the way to tell if it is shot is to grab the rotor and move it and look for play.

nice video bro... I still miss that EF hatch you did of all the ebay parts you installed. Maybe someday get one again, keep this van for the family. Get a stock civic, and do videos throughout your build... mods, installs, maintenance, repairs... ect. keep it up man... I got my DSM running recently. Check it out...
