+jksatte I grew up on the beaches in J'ville partially Atlantic Beach. I lived in Atlanta too it is my favorite place! I enjoy traveling, thanks for watching.
+Brandy AlfordWow, I am from J'ville and lived in Atlanta for 20+ years. I am looking to move now. I'm not sure where yet but it's so nice and interesting to hear of "us" being in unexpected places. Glad you like it there. I am looking forward to catching more of your video's. Janice
You know I forgot that that movie was filmed there! It is a really beautiful state so most likely we will go for it. I will probably be a bundle of nerves for the next 6-8 months! Lol! This will be the first home purchase for us. I enjoyed this chat with you! I needed this.
+Journey2 Yah Every time I hear of AZ I think of Scottsdale because of the movie Waiting To Exhale. That is a big move but you should go for it! New scenery always adds spice to your life. AZ seems to have a good economy.
By far, yes it is! We are considering az. I just got back and love it there. I did see shade, but I'm thinking, did being here in nj harden me? People here are so unfriendly. It seems as if everyone is so depressed because all you do is work shop and go home. No one is your true friend, it's like they don't know how to be. At first it comes across that way, but if they need me, I'm there, if I need them they are not, all kinds of excuses. I have no friends here. If you want fun you have to go into nyc or the shore, boring, or philly. I've had enough of this place, not used to people like this. In ny everyone is friendly and looks out for you. Here it's every man for himself! I'm approaching my mid forties, my tolerance level is not the same as years ago.
In Florida I experienced hate, in Iowa it is more curiosity. For example "Can I touch your hair" . If you want to move try it out, if you don't like it move back. I was a military brat so I got used to moving a lot, my husband was military too. But Florida is the most racist place i've ever lived.
I used to live in NY and moved to fl when I was a teenager and yes! The people there are so prejudice, rude and hateful! I hated being there and vowed never to go back! Needless to say that experience scared me for life. Now we are thinking about relocating and now again the questions and what if you get there and hate it, like Florida?! I'm not surprised at what your daughter is going through but wow, I'm am surprised that it's not that bad over there. It is refreshing to know.
+Journey2 Yah People in Iowa seem to be nice to me and my two elementary aged sons. My daughter who is a teenager in the 9th grade, deal with a lot of people who are "curious" or say things for reactions. I grew up in the south, I spent most of my life in Jacksonville, Florida & Atlanta, Ga so I have experienced some 'disrespect' particularly in Florida. It is not as diverse here but people are nice here in my opinion.
Are the people nice in Iowa? Towards blacks I meant. It is such a shame that we have to go through this extra process to make sure that we are "tolerated" in certain areas.
+Journey2 Yah I like the things to do in Omaha. But, I just learned about how high the homicide rate is for African Americans in certain places. "Black on Black Crimes" It totally took me by surprise, I would never have suspected it. It's the 3rd highest in the nation.
I've always wondered about Nebraska. It's good to "us" out there! That's something that we don't see much. Us being represented in not so commonly recognized states.
I live right by the Iowa/Nebraska state line so I hang out in Nebraska often. I really like Omaha, there are some fun things to do. I don't care for the weather though.
